There will be 4 daily grades and 2 major grades associated with this project and they are indicated below. You will: answer the Superhero/villain Questionnaire; write a Superhero/villain Monologue based on the guidelines below; design and make a Superhero/villain chest logo (yes, if you’d rather put your logo or your arm or leg or back that’s fine) design and make a Superhero/villain mask (template included); present the monologue, costume piece, and mask to the class. Questionnaire: (daily grade#1) The Questions are on the second page of this packet. Answers to all of these questions are due at the beginning of class on Friday, November 20. The answers to these questions will help guide the writing of your monologue. Monologue: (major grade #1) A monologue is a long speech spoken by one person, revealing personal thoughts and feelings. After you have answered the questions on the Questionnaire, you will write a monologue for your superhero/villain. This is an ORIGINAL monologue that should include (but is not limited to): their ability and/or how they got their power their feelings about their role in society their weakness or flaw a story about one of their encounters The monologue should be at least 30 seconds in length. Time it with the clock on the wall. The completed monologue is due at the beginning of class on Tuesday, December 1. Chest Logo: (daily grade #2) You will design a chest logo to give us a better visualization of your character. You may use construction paper (provided) or something you bring from home. You may bring anything to add to your chest logo with the exception of glitter. You must design it on the template included in this packet then actually create it on other paper. The design is part of your grade and must be approved before you can begin construction. Your completed Chest Logo is due at the beginning of class on Thursday, December 3. Mask: (daily grade #3) You will design a mask for your superhero/villain. It can cover any part of your face (top half, side half, the whole face, etc.). You may use construction paper (provided) or something you bring from home. You may bring anything to add to your mask with the exception of glitter. You must design it on the template included in this packet then actually create it on other paper. The design is part of your grade and must be approved before you can begin construction. Make sure you can talk out of it. Your completed Mask is due at the beginning of class on Monday, December 7. Presentation: (major grade #2) You will present your monologue along with your chest logo and mask. After you complete your questionnaire, monologue, design of chest logo and mask, and construction of your chest logo and mask you should begin practicing your monologue. Your presentation will be on December 9 and 10. Your presentation will be timed and graded according to the rubric attached to this packet. Work Ethic/Audience Etiquette: (daily grade #4) I will be keeping track of your work ethic throughout this project. Every time I catch you off task you will lose 5 points. During the presentations, every time I catch you doing something other than watching your classmates you will also lose 5 points.
