The meeting was called to order at 11:05 am.
1) Last Executive Meeting

a) Review and approval of minutes of March 27, 2013.

2) Review of May 7th EPCV meeting
(a) Speaker: Anna Laing did very well and covered her extensive
material in fine fashion. A quality presentation which used all the time
allocated.
(b) Food: good overall.
(c) Attendance: 101 attended; 17 registered but did not show; 1 guest
registered but did not show.
(d) Set up: fine, but a reminder should be made to LCI that closing of the
bar while the presenter is still speaking is verboten. LCI should wait
until after 8:00 pm.

-23) Preparation for June 4th EPCV meeting (joint with CBA)
(a) Ruth E. Steverlynck of RES Consulting Group Inc., who was to
present on June 4th on family businesses and the role of “Chief
Emotional Officer”, is now tentatively scheduled for October 29, 2013.
(b) The June 4th meeting will now have Franco Lombardo present on
“Great White Elephant: Why Rich Kids Hate Their Parents” or “How to
Assist Your Clients and Families to Raise Emotionally and Financially
Literate Children”.
(c) Head table attendees: Franco Lombardo, Janine Thomas (for short
snapper), Emma McArthur (CBA), Michelle Isaak (new member),
PJS, JB, MLM

(b) November 26, 2013: Charity speaker – Joint with CAGP. Marcel
Lauziere, President and CEO of Imagine Canada to speak. PJS
thanked CF and Vancity Community Foundation’s offer to sponsor
Lauziere and half of his travel costs.
(c) January 28, 2014: Douglas Porter, Chief Economist at BMO?
(d) February 25, 2014: Investments- modern portfolio theory? Chasing
returns? Robert L. Heinkel of Sauder School of Business, UBC?
(e) March 25, 2014: Legal update – WESA? Panel discussion on
planning, administration and litigation under WESA?
(f) May 6, 2014: Joint with CBA. Counselling for those supporting end
of life/Alzheimer’s/grief? Dr. Romayne Gallagher, currently Head of
Residential Care and Palliative Care Divisions of the Department of
Community and Family Medicine at Providence Health Care?
(g) June 3, 2014: Dr. John Helliwell on U.N. study: “Gross National
Happiness”?
