Language Arts
In language arts, we are currently in
the middle of our “Perseverance Unit”.
The students are reading articles and
other pieces in order to gain a sense of
understanding of what perseverance is.
We have an upcoming assessment on
Thursday, Oct. 2nd. Our grading period
ends soon, please encourage your child
to get their 10 AR points. Also, a
Remind Sheet will be sent home this
week as well. Be sure to sign up!
Science
In Science we are learning about Motion
and Forces, Gravity, and Magnetism.
We will be doing several labs during
this unit. This is a content filled unit
with several new concepts. It is very
important that you and your child study
their notes on a regular basis. 15
minutes a day can make all the
difference on a test grade. Students
need to keep all of their notes in their
composition books. We will be taking a
quiz this Friday and the Unit test will be
after fall break. Enjoy your week off!

Social Studies
Students are currently studying Ancient
Egypt. We are learning about the Nile
rivers impact on the Egyptian people.
We are learning about the Pyramids and
what they were used for. We are
examining the major Pharaohs of Egypt
from the young King Tut to the peaceful
queen Hatsheput. After fall break, the
students will review the previous units
of Geography, Ancient Man, and the
now unit of Egypt.
Math
In math we have just finished Integers
and Rational Numbers and will be
working with Proportions next.
Students will be working to find unit
rates and finding equivalent rates. We
will be posting the dates of our next
assessment on our website calendar in
the near future. Every student has
been issued a text book and we
encourage parents to take a look at
them because there is an online helper
and several resources helpful to
completing homework and learning the
material in the book and on the
website. Please check out our Remind
101. We will be sending home several
videos so please work with us to get all
students watching them. Students can
access the videos via school webpage
on their phones or computers, through
a flash drive, CD or DVD. Students can
also watch videos first thing in the
morning in the Library before the start
of the day. We ask that if a student has
any trouble with this that a note would
be sent to school.
