INTEGRATED SCIENCE 8
Course Description:
Integrated Science 8 will focus on three disciplines of science. The
three disciplines for our course of study are: Earth Science, Environmental
Science, and Physical Science. We will also review Biological Science as we
prepare for the 8th Grade PSSA Science Assessment. This course will utilize
activities, demonstrations, hands-on experimentation, lectures, projects and
resourceful videos to aid in the learning process for each student. Upon
completion of the PSSA’s, the students will then design and perform an
experiment that will be judged at the culminating event of the 8th Grade
Science Fair.
Grading Policy :
In this class, every assignment will be given a numerical point
value. At the end of each nine weeks, the students total number of points
earned will be divided by the total number of points. It is IMPERATIVE
that every student recognizes that I DO NOT give grades, the students
will have EARNED whatever grade that they receive. With that said, every
assignment is important or I would not have assigned it. Taking “0’s” is
extremely detrimental to the success of each student. It is expected that
assignments will be turned in on time; however, I will accept assignments
late. I would much rather have an assignment have a few points taken off
for lateness than to have the student never complete the assignment.

• Hands on Discovery: Measurement and Tools Lab, Density Sink or
Float Lab, Physical Properties Lab, White Before Your Eyes Lab, Law of
Conservation of Mass (Upcoming), Alka Seltzer Rockets Lab
(Upcoming), Numerous Classroom Demos with student assistance
• Daily Bell Ringers: Must have 25 for the Nine Weeks
• PowerPoint Notes: Printed out for each student and on the school
website
• Instructional Videos/Video Log: Selected videos and segments to bring
the text to life
