Academic Experience

Post Graduation Thesis – Study on Filtration Behaviour of Geocomposites – Two different functional
geosynthetics; geotextile for separation and geogrid for reinforcement, were used to make geocomposites.
Three different bonding methods (i.e., Stitching, Adhesion, Hot-Press.) were used for preparation of
geocomposites. Among them, Hot-Press method showed an excellent bonding effect. The mechanical and
hydraulic properties of geocomposites were evaluated and analyzed. It was shown that the overall engineering
properties of the geocomposites were improved. Bonding between geotextile and geogrid increased the peel
strength, the tensile strength and the junction strength, and the creep behaviour etc. Though hydraulic properties
were decreased, separation function was strengthened.

Under Graduation Thesis – Study of yarn characteristics spin on different ring spinning system – One of the most
crucial factors affecting proper spinning of yarn has been the spinning geometry. The spinning geometry directly
affects hairiness, strength and migration of the yarn formed. In this work we have analyze the characteristics of
three different ring spun yarns of 20s Ne, 40s Ne, 60s Ne count. We have made comparison between yarn spun on
two compact ring yarn system (Rieter and Suessen) and two normal ring yarn system (Lakshmi and Suessen).
Comparison based information is not readily available as of today. So our thesis, tries to through light on the
influences of spinning length, stretch length and tip distance on the properties of yarn such as hairiness,
migration, tenacity, elongation and abrasion. We have tried to reach conclusions that can help in generalizing
machine selection based on their field of application such as their suitability for a particular count.
