AP ECONOMICS
MRS. NOVOSELSKI
Room 312
Course Description: Advanced placement Economics is a year long class that covers both
microeconomics and macroeconomics. This class will prepare you to take both the micro
and macro advanced placement tests in the spring. Since this is an AP class, the grade you
receive will be calculated according to a weighted scale.
This class will require higher level thinking skills. DO NOT EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO
MEMORIZE for this class to get a good grade. You must be able to analyze and evaluate
statistical information and graphs. You will be expected to do some basic math WITHOUT a
calculator.
Information about Advanced Placement Test
In May, the College Board will offer the AP test for both Microeconomics and
Macroeconomics. The fact that you are enrolled in this class means you have a genuine
interest in taking and attempting to pass these tests. There is a nominal fee for each test of
around $90.00. You must take the AP tests in the spring to receive the weighted grade for
this class.
Class Rules:
1. Be prepared: In order to be fully prepared, students are expected to have their
notebooks and writing utensils in class everyday. While calculators are not allowed on the
AP Exam or your Unit Tests, it may benefit you to have one with you in class.
2. Be on time: after 4 tardies detentions will be issued
3. Be considerate of others
4. Use class time wisely: you are expected to participate in group activities and complete
any practice assignments
5. Stay seated until bell rings
Assignments: There will be minimal traditional “homework” for this class. However, if
you find yourself struggling, you will need to spend some time out of class reviewing the
material.
You will receive an AP test review booklet to use throughout the year – the book contains
information about both Micro and Macro. This book is yours, and you may write in it. Use
this book to review and practice concepts. In addition, you will be expected to complete
some assignments from this book. You are able to check out books in the media center on
an as needed basis. Check out a book and USE it or come and see me for extra help after
school.
The assignments completed in this class are based on accuracy, NOT COMPLETITON.
Grades for each unit will be based on class assignments, activities, quizzes and tests. You
can expect approximately 2 graded assignments, 1-2 quizzes and a test for every unit we
