1. List three functions of roots and three functions of
stems.
Roots: supply plants with water and dissolved minerals,
hold plants secure to soil, store surplus food for
photosynthesis
Stems: support plant body, transport materials from
the root system and the shoot system, store materials
such as cacti (water)
