Students will understand and apply the concepts of the affects of solutes on colligative properties such as
vapor pressure, boiling point, freezing point, and osmotic pressure.
Observe and analyze a
freezing point depression
in order to determine the
molar mass of an
unknown solute

Students will demonstrate
understanding of concepts
of colligative properties
Students will apply
boiling point and freezing
point concepts to solvents
other than water.
Students will practice
colligative property
problems in preparation
for a test

Lab Activity Part Two:
Students will take a quiz
that has one problem of
each type:
 Freezing Point
 Boiling Point
 Vapor Pressure
 Osmotic
Pressure.
Quiz will also contain an
AP Style multistep
question utilizing one
concept connected to past
concepts
Students will complete a
lab analyzing the freezing
point of a pure solvent
(water) and then
determining the molar
mass of an unknown
solute from the freezing
point depression it causes.
