Steps to using Veteran Education Benefits
1. Get admitted to TCC: Admissions Office or Online www.tcc.edu/students/admissions
2. Apply for V.A. Education Benefits.
a. New: Online at https://www.ebenefits.va.gov (Print a copy of the application, either 22-1990, 221990e or 22-5490)
b. Used your benefits elsewhere: Fill out VA Form 22-1995 or VA Form 22-5495 to change your place
of study with the VA. http://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp
c. Print and provide a copy of the online VA Form to the TCC VA Office
3. Apply for Financial Aid (www.fafsa.ed.gov) School code: 003712
4. Take the Placement Test: (review link for details and exemptions)

5. Transfer Credits:
a. Complete a JST (Joint Service Transcript) request https://jst.doded.mil.
b. Submit the on-line Request for Evaluation of Previous Educational Experiences form

c.
Provide an unofficial copy of your transcript for review with an advisor
6. Attend an Orientation Session:

7. Consult a CMVE Academic Advisor: For curriculum and/or class schedule

8. Register for classes: Online https://tcc.my.vccs.edu / Enrollment Window.
9. Pay tuition not later than due date:

c. Ensure you have visited a VA Office for information before making a tuition payment.
10.Provide the following to V.A. Office:

Certificate of Eligibility / Application Form for Education Benefits
To Print an Academic Advising Report:
1. Login to VCCS SIS (myTCC)
2. On the Self Service page look for “Degree Progress/Graduation”
3. Under “Degree Progress/Graduation” click on “My Academic Requirements”
4. On the “My Academic Requirements”, click on “View Report as PDF”
a. If you have not previously allowed “pop-ups” a small confirmation will show on the top of the web
page in a Firefox browser or at the bottom for Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) browser; allow pop-ups
for TCC
b. Click again on “View Report as PDF”
5. A new window will appear titled “Academic Advising for Your Name…”
6. Right click, then Print
