Cat Dissection Project • Cambri, Katy, Taylor, Zach Muscle ORGANS NOTE: Definitions on slides after pictures • Liver- produces bile, filtration, and digestive enzymes • Spleen- filters blood, removes old and defective blood cells • Urinary Bladder- temporary storage of urine • Small Intestine- all nutrient absorption • Stomach- site of physical and chemical breakdown • Heart- pumps blood through the circulatory system • Lungs- responsible for gas exchange • Gall Bladder- store and concentrate bile • Kidney- filter blood to form urine • Colon/ Large Intestine- absorption of water and elimination of residues • Pancreas- principal enzyme producing organ of digestive system • Ureter- passageway of urine from the kidney to the bladder • Urethra- duct where urine is moved out of the body from the bladder • Esophagus- connects the throat to the stomach; transports food and liquids • Trachea- pathway for air to the lungs Arteries and Veins
