White House Tour Tickets
Previously, White House tours could only be arranged through
the office of your Member of Congress six months in advance.
The Obama Administration has streamlined the process by
implementing an online White House Tour ticketing system. All
guests 14 years of age or older are required by the United
States Secret Service to submit their name, date of birth, social
security number and country of citizenship.
Air Force One
• In 1944 President Franklin D. Roosevelt called for the
creation of the Presidential Pilot Office to provide air
transportation to the President and his staff.
• For most of the next 20 years, various four-engine
propeller-driven aircraft were used for presidential air travel.
• In 1962, the first jet aircraft, a Boeing 707, was purchased
for use as Air Force One.
• The current presidential fleet consists of two specificallyconfigured Boeing 747-200B series aircraft – tail numbers
28000 and 29000 – with Air Force designation VC-25A.

After the assassination of President William McKinley in
1901, Congress directed the Secret Service to protect the
President of the United States. Protection remains a key
mission of the United States Secret Service
Today, the Secret Service is authorized by law to protect:
The president, the vice president, (and other individuals next in
order of succession), the president-elect and vice president-elect,
and Presidential Candidates
The immediate families of the above individuals
President Obama signed into law the Former Presidents
Protection Act of 2012, granting lifetime Secret Service
protection to all former presidents, their wives (unless they
remarry), and their children under the age of 16. It reverses a 1994
law that ended Secret Service protection 10 years after a
president leaves office
