Cell membrane coloring sheet Please color a few of the nonpolar & hydrophobic phospholipid fatty acid tails dark green. Color a few of the polar & hydrophilic phospholipid phosphate head groups red. Color nonpolar & hydrophobic cholesterol yellow. This molecule prevents cell membranes from becoming too fluid when temperatures are high. Color an integral membrane carrier protein orange (you can’t tell from the drawing whether the carrier protein is a passive transport channel or pore or whether it is an active transport pump). Color a glycoprotein with an attached carbohydrate chain dark blue. This membrane protein and its external sugar chain serves as a recognition protein, also known as a cell identification marker. Color a peripheral membrane protein (on cytoplasmic side) purple. This peripheral protein allows the cell to change organization of the cytoskeleton in response to messages from other cells. Color light blue a receptor protein that is bound to a pentagon shaped hormone. This protein allows the cell to receive messages from other cells which produce the hormone. Color the hexagon shaped hormone pink. Neatly draw an arrow to each of the colored structures and label them.
