Suggestions for good grades on element quizzes:
Study element nightly (use flash cards, mix them up, study with a parent/sibling)
Quizzes will be 10 to 20 elements long and you will have only 5 minuets to
complete
Element quizzes will be EVERY FRIDAY (unless other wise stated in class)
Know the full group names
Write clearly (if I can’t read it I can’t give you credit for know it)
Use the correct case (upper case for 1st letter, lower case for 2nd letter)
Small spelling errors won’t count against you BUT if the spelling significantly
changes the pronunciation of the element it will be counted incorrect.
For polyatomic ions know the name, the correct formula and charge
Any element or polyatomic from previous weeks can reappear on more than one
element quiz (expect the hard one’s more than once)
