Daily Routine
 The day’s agenda on board
 At the top will be your Quick Write (aka bellwork)
 You are expected to start working on this without
reminders
 Reminds you what you’re turning in, what the
homework is and what we’re doing for the day
 YOUR responsibility to write this down
 As a backup, or if you are absent, this will be posted
online and in dated folders in the classroom
What’s New?
 High school level content.
 Books have a higher reading level with more stuff on a
page
 You’ll have a list of “goals” for each unit that tell you what
you need to know.
 The book is just one of our resources and you will use a
lot of others!
 We do a lot with data and analysis of data. It’s not just
what you know, but HOW do you know it’s true. Prove
it!
Interactive Science Binders (ISBs)
 This is NOT the same as 7th grade binders
 30% of your grade will be based on binders using
rubric
 You will have your binders with you at all times. It’s
the place you will put ALL classwork, homework,
corrections, notes, etc.
 Will check binders on a DAILY basis. Count on
your being checked 4-5 times in a mkp.
 Will also collect random assignments towards ISB
grade

Suggestions for improvement:
“Next Day” Pass
 “Next day” passes 2x per marking period excuses late stuff
 If I ask to check your binder and you don’t have it, I check
tomorrow
 If a paper is due, give me the pass, turn it in tomorrow for no
penalty
Bathroom Pass
 2 per marking period, but they never expire
 Use for locker, drink, bathroom, or so that I don’t mark a tardy
Assessments
 70% of your grade
 Test, quizzes, papers, projects, etc.
 You need to know your stuff!
 Expect one at least every 2 weeks
Your Grade
 Grades on Powerschool. YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO
CHECK
 30% ISB, 70% Assessments
 Late papers are accepted up to one week late for 60% credit.
 If you are absent, you are responsible for finding out what was
missed (posted online and in folder), picking up papers/notes
(either online or in folders) and making sure it is turned in
within a reasonable time frame
Classroom Rules
 If you are not exercising good judgment, I let you know and
give you the opportunity to reflect/change behavior (orange
sheets)
 Simple warnings aren’t followed, except a consequence
 If we can’t solve the problem on our own, I will involve your
parents.
