TEMPLATE – INDEPENDENT PEER APPRAISAL NOTE: This template provides a simple format for independent peer appraisers to summarise and record comments and recommend actions to improve the quality and focus of the draft design prior to finalisation. Draft designs will be appraised against nine standard criteria (refer to Guidance: Design Appraisal Peer Review for more detailed descriptions). Appraisal comments will help identify any critical issues that must be addressed before the design can be approved by CARE Australia. Comments may also identify issues which should be addressed during project start-up, inception and initial implementation. Using the format below, independent peer appraisers should prepare comments that highlight the strengths and limitations of the draft design against these criteria for discussion during the design appraisal peer review. Where independent peer appraisers identify limitations in the draft design, this should be noted and recommended actions listed to improve the design. Recommended actions should be realistic, based on available time, resources and expertise. They should highlight actions critical to the future success of the project (i.e. the design should not proceed unless these changes are made).
