Economics is a one semester course emphasizing the principles and beliefs upon which the

of individuals, businesses, and government are all examined in this course. Other economic
systems are discussed in a comparative model. Students are expected to be able to

Course Policies:
Attendance & Tardies: Every student is expected to be in class and on time each day.
Absences and tardies will be recorded each class period. Assistant principals will deal with
all excessive tardy issues. Please see the online Student Handbook to familiarize yourself
with LTISD and LTHS campus policies.
Required Materials: Notebook paper kept organized neatly in a binder or folder, redchecking pen, pencils, and textbooks
Cell Phone & Electronics:
Use of electronic devices and phones are strictly up to teacher discretion. The teacher
will make it clear to the students when it is/is not appropriate to have the cell phone in
view during class. Text messaging, gaming, use of camera, video, or voice-mail will result in
immediate disciplinary action. If such use should occur during testing, the student will also
be held responsible for academic dishonesty, regardless of the messages being sent or
received.
Quizzes:
You will be taking weekly vocabulary/material presented quizzes. Quizzes will be calculated
as part of the quizzes/daily 40% category. If you should miss a quiz, follow the guidelines
in the student handbook.
Tests:
Tests will/may be a combination of multiple choice, true and false, short answer, or essay.
Tests are worth 60% of your grade. Please be prepared for each test…don’t wait until the
last minute to study! If you should miss a test, again, refer to the student handbook. The
school wide retest policy is followed for major grades and guidelines are set out
per course for the steps needed to earn a retest for a maximum grade of
70. Grades may be averaged between first failing grade and retest grade to earn a
score lower than a 70.
Late Work:
A major project will be accepted one class day late for a maximum of 70. Students
may be allowed to redo an inadequate assignment provided reasonable effort was
made by the student in the initial completion of the assignment. This will be
allowed only 3 times per semester and a maximum grade of 70 will be
awarded. The procedure for the student redoing these 3 grades is at each
teacher’s discretion.
Make-Up Work:
Make-up work for absences will be the responsibility of the student. One day for each day
absent is allowed for turning in make-up work. Major tests must be made up within one
week of returning to school.
Class Participation:
Each student is expected to make positive contributions during class discussions. Each
student is required to participate in classroom activities resulting in any type of
assessment.
Academic Dishonesty:
Academic dishonesty of any kind will result in disciplinary actions.
*plagiarism
*copying any academic work from another student
*sharing homework or other required assignments
*sharing or use of information through electronic devices
Grading:
Economics grades will be calculated as follows:
60% from tests and other major assignments
40% from daily work(15%) and quizzes(25%)
Grades will be posted weekly and may be accessed through Parent Connect.
Homework:
All homework, presentations, and handouts will be available on my LTHS Teacher website.
You can also access our class text book from the Portal button on the right on our high
school website.
Support Services:
Times for tutorials and make-up will be set up by the student and teacher. I am available
to tutor students from 8:00 to 8:45 and in the afternoons (on certain days) from 4:00 to
5:00 pm.
