Visual Art

The studio art program at Kal
provides
students
with
fundamental
abilities
and
understanding along with a wide
variety of opportunities and
experiences to perceive
and
respond; create and communicate
using visual information.
From Grade 8 through to senior
levels,
students
learn
art
foundations including:
using a
range of different materials,
processes
and
equipment;
technical
and
creative
skill
development;
knowledge of
design principles; and developing
their own visual voices.

Extra Courses Offered from the English Department:
Humanities 11. This is a year long course which combines English 11 and
Social Studies 11.

Advanced Placement Literature and Composition 12. This is an upper level
course for college-bound grads with a focus on reading and analyzing
literature.
Advanced Placement English Language and Composition 12. This is an upper
level course for college-bound grads with a focus on writing (available to
students in grades 11 and 12).

Film Appreciation 11/12. This is a class open to any 11 or 12 student without
prerequisite. It is a focus on films of different genres (Sci-fi, Comedy, War,
Thriller/Horror, Coming of Age, Apocalyptic, Film Noir/Mystery) with a look
at the old and new of each. We will learn critical thinking and writing as we
watch the movies offered.
