COMING OUT OF THE DARK

We were entrusted the most intimate
and we kept it in the diary.
Objectives
Municipality of cultural communication of Kortanio set the
purpose for us:
to include women from Belarus, Russia and Switzerland into
general intercultural communication.
• to touch upon a social aspect
that is close to a woman/that
represents her
• to create an idea within the art
project

We planned to create a diary for
women, like a collection of
important and secret aspects of
female life: her own interests and
her own way of life. Each Lady has
her own page, where she can tell
her story...
But we went further , and decided
to use camera lens as a plume. Each
page of the dairy – photo, that
represents fate of each woman.

Have You ever heard about Swiss
photography Pierre-William Henry?
To simplify our communication
strategy, we used his “language”: in
25 seconds he snatched out from the
darkness a mystical freeze frame of
the fusion of feminity and a personal
esthetics, of things, dreams and
realities, of honesty and symbolics of
our time.
So, when we collected 30 stories of
Belarusian women in one foto-diary,
we decided to combine it into the
project “25 seconds”.
And now, we are going to visit our
friends in Neuchatel, Switzerland!

That’s how it started…
Dear friends,
We belong to different social layers and different cultures, we have
different views on life and different preferences in food, thousands
of kilometers separate us from each other and we have never met,
but we understand each other.
I create this diary for us - women. Here everyone will be able to tell the
story, without lie and pretense, without social roles and fear of
misunderstanding. This diary is a dialogue between girlfriends who
care.

flashlight and 25-second
endurance.

- What do You know about female life?
-What are they thinking about right now?
-Why they have sleepless nights?
- What their faces can tell us in the minutes of solitude?
-Who are they – mistress of our houses?
Traveling from city to city, from
country to country, the photodiary turns into a platform for
researches, because woman is a
very emotional subject.
Woman at home - place without
social code and limits. That’s why
there is nothing artificial in a
naked home.

- 3 radio stations on the air
-More than 1000 visitors in the
first week!
-Prolonged for a week!
-We received an invitation from
Portugal to organize“25
secondes” project!
- All participants had still communicated in social network. Friend, it’s
amazing, how this photo-session have changed the lady’s life, that took
part in this project!

Philosophers and thinkers from
all over the world for centuries
tried to unriddle women and
failed …
Well, I hope that if someday a
man stumbles upon this diary,
he won’t defile the image of
feminity, will not trash the
wide-open soul, but instead he
will be able to see the stories of
his mother, sister, wife or
daughter.
