Graphic Designer/Marketing Guru Environmental Center The Environmental Center is an on-campus, student-driven organization that works to promote sustainability and social justice in our region. We are currently looking for passionate individuals excited to gain professional skills, be part of an amazing crew of folks, and work towards creating positive environmental and social change in our campus/community. Job Description: The Environmental Center is offering a professional experience to one qualified Graphic Designer/Marketer. The EC Graphic Designer/Marketing Guru will work directly with the EC professional staff to create both printed and digital materials for the Environmental Center, including, but not limited to brochures, logos, posters, decals, flyers, event signage and web optimized graphics for our various programs, campaigns and events. We are looking for someone who is a team player and able to work with a variety of people across campus including, faculty, staff and students and excited to participate in the process of establishing an EC brand and contribute ideas on effective products/imagery to achieve this goal. Job Responsibilities: Meet with EC Professional staff and student teams to establish a vision for a product(s) or design(s) Participate in EC Branding Committee to provide recommendations on effective marketing tactics and graphical products. Select colors, images, textures, and shapes to create the layout Select the size and arrangement of the different elements Use computer software to create electronic versions of designs Design logos for products and programs Develop signs and environmental graphics Create promotional displays and marketing brochures Provide print-ready files to printer or product manufacturer and web optimized files to web team Make minor webpage edits Collaborate with printers to select type of paper and ink Submit rough drafts for approval Perform market research Required Qualifications • • • • • • • • • • • Must qualify for Federal Work Study funding through your financial aid package or be willing to volunteer your time Basic graphic design experience with proficiency utilizing Adobe Creative Suite Software including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator as well as Adobe Acrobat for proofing purposes Ability to commit to 4-10 hours of work per week Work-Study eligibility OR willingness to commit as a volunteer Interest in environmental and/or social justice issues Ability to set priorities, self-direct workload, and adapt to changing circumstances Willingness to work both individually and in a team atmosphere Willingness to learn new things Ability to accept feedback on projects Positive Attitude Marketing experience and web design experience a plus. Pay Scale: $9.00/hour-$11.00/hour is available to individuals who qualify for Work Study Funding through your student financial aid package Work Schedule: Student staff are asked to work between 4-10 hours per week when school is in session. Weekly schedules are flexible to cater to school/life commitments. Start Date: Student staff will begin working regular office hours the 2nd week of September. All staff are asked to attend a paid, all-day orientation retreat, Saturday, September 19th.
