Inland Outrigger Canoe Club (IOCC) cordially invites your club members to participate in our
Inaugural 2016 Sprint Regatta.
We look forward to your support in Junior, Open and Masters division sprints. We encourage you
race in our feature events:

JUNIOR and “adopt an adult for the day” OC2 500m,
Young GUNS OC6 500m
Southern States Zone selection events for World Sprint, Club OC6 crews, the Open and
Masters 40 Women’s OC1 500m and Open and Masters 40 Men’s OC1 500m.
 4km OC6 pursuit event to close the program Sunday.

1.
CONDITIONS OF PADDLER ELIGIBILITY
Only persons who are financial members of a club affiliated with AOCRA Ltd. and are a
registered competitor with AOCRA Ltd. may compete.
The Race Committee reserves the right to be the arbiter in any dispute regarding
eligibility and registration of competitors. The Race Director’s decision is final.
The Regatta Rules (as amended) of the Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association
Ltd shall apply to this Inland Outrigger Canoe Club (IOCC) Regatta.
Each club is responsible for ensuring all paddlers are registered via the AOCRA paddler
registration process at www.aocra.com.au at least 7 days prior to this regatta.
The IOCC Race Committee reserves the right to request proof of age of a competitor at
any time.
2.
NOMINATIONS
There are two parts to the AOCRA Regatta Nomination process.
Detailed instructions are available on the website, however a summary is noted below.
Club Nominations











Please, please, please complete EARLY before Christmas.
At the www.aocra.com.au homepage, select CLUB SIGN-IN
Select RACE NOMINATION, then CLUB NOMINATION
You will be presented with a list of Australian regattas, and alongside the INLAND
OUTRIGGER CANOE CLUB REGATTA, select NOMINATE CLUB
You will be asked to select your zone and your club and then your position on the
Club Committee.
Sign-in as required and on the next screen, select INLAND OUTRIGGER CANOE
CLUB as the Host Club.
Then by clicking on Event buy, you will see a list of Age Groups for each event
available. Alongside the correct age group, ENTER IN THE NUMBER of teams or
paddlers your club wants to enter in to that event. You can put the total all in the
Open category if you wish.
The total number of nominations for your club will be added up and multiplied by
the Payable Fee per event / per paddler and a total will be calculated. Then Click
on PROCEED
It will then ask you to confirm the method of payment – direct debit or credit card
as noted above.
The Host Club Secretary will receive a Tax Invoice via email, for each different
club that nominates for the regatta.
The participating club secretary will receive a Tax Invoice for the total entry fees
paid for their club to enter the regatta.
 Please Note: To minimize paperwork and rework, all nominating clubs are
requested to submit only 1 Club Nomination form. Please – get it right the first
time!
3.
PRE-EVENT REGISTRATION
All competitors will be required to check themselves in with the Race officials.
Prior to racing competitors will be instructed to go directly to the registration area. This
official area will have their club team / paddler nomination forms. Race officials will check
off paddlers by highlighting their names on the pre logged team/paddlers nomination
form.
Please Note: This is an AOCRA safety requirement. Paddlers or crews who do not sign
in prior to their event, are subject to disqualification.
Competitors not listed on the official Team/Paddler Nomination form will not be allowed
to compete.
4.
CLUB / TEAM MEMBER ELIGIBILTY
Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association rules (as amended) for Combined
Regattas, as well as the new Southern States Zone Championship Series rules will
apply.
Teams can be made up of any AOCRA Southern States Zone members, but only after all
clubs have attempted and used all potential club members to field a team first. All clubs
must have first preference to their own club members for races before sourcing
out paddlers from other clubs.
5.
ON THE DAY – CHECKING OF TEAM NOMINATIONS
Team/Paddler Nomination forms may not be accepted on race day.
Only competitors named on the team/ paddler nomination forms will be allowed to
compete unless proof of AOCRA membership and club membership can be presented to
a member of the IOCC Race Committee.
6.
RACE INFORMATION
Venue
All events will start and finish on a 2km buoyed sprint course at Nagambie Lakes Regatta
Center.
Trailer Parking and Access:
OC6 canoes will be unloaded and rigged at the finish line. Cars and trailers can be parked
nearby. There is ample FREE car parking at the venue for competitors and spectators.
Course
All events are run on a buoyed sprint course.
Amenities
Toilets are available. On site Kiosk will be operating.
Caravan park kiosk is walking distance.
The Township of Nagambie is a 3 km drive.
One weather proof room is available, shade marquees are recommended.

7.
Starts
Competitors must be present on the starting line in race program order in designated
lanes, or as otherwise directed by the Race Announcer. Starting signals shall be given
regardless of absentees.
The position at the start should be such that the bow of each competing canoe is lined up
behind the starting line between the start buoys and in a stationary position. Rolling starts
are not permitted.
Start Flags:
 Yellow Flag: approx 2 minutes to start (shorter if canoes line up quickly)
 Red Flag: approx 30 seconds to start
 Red Flag down / Green Flag up (simultaneously): Start of race
 Black Flag: may be raised at any time to indicate that one or more canoes are
ahead of the start line. It is not the responsibility of the starter to indicate which
canoes are ahead of the start line. It is the team / paddler’s responsibility to
ensure they are behind the line. Crews that in front of the start line when the race
starts are subject to disqualification.
Finish line
The finish line is crossed when the bow of the canoe passes between the designated
finish buoys/ markers.
8.
RULES / SAFETY
Canoes Safety inspections will be completed. Canoes not meeting AOCRA Safety
Guidelines will not be eligible to race.
Race Briefings
Race briefings will be held as published on the race program, or as otherwise advised by
the Race Announcer. All Race Briefings will be held in the Registration area.
It is compulsory for all team captains, steerers and coaches to attend this meeting.
Life Jackets
Life jackets must be worn at all times on Victorian Waterways.
** IOCC has applied for an exemption to this Maritime Rule but the result of the
application is not known at time of program distribution.
Club Coaches responsibilities
Please note it is the responsibility of all Club Coaches to ensure that their crews
competing in any event are capable of competing in all race conditions, as required by
AOCRA racing rules.
 Paddlers must be able to swim 400 m and tread water for 5 minutes.
 Crews must be able to right a flipped canoe without assistance.
 Any crew finding themselves in trouble for whatever reason must raise their
paddles in the air to alert support craft or passing canoes for assistance.
 Any canoe found not to go to the assistance of a canoe in trouble, will be
disqualified from the event.
If at any stage of the event a safety official requests a canoe return to shore it must
comply with this request immediately. Failure to do so will result in disqualification of the
crew from any future events held during the remainder of the regatta.
The Safety Official may take such action as he/ she deems necessary for the safety of
crews.
Failure to comply with the above may invalidate your insurance cover.
Disqualification
Any individual or team who attempts to win an event by any means other then those
which are honest or who does not respect the AOCRA Race Rules or who by his or her
conduct clearly shows lack of respect for the Rules shall be disqualified. All
disqualifications pronounced by the Race Committee and AOCRA Officials are final.
Protests & Race Rulings
All protests must be presented in writing to the Race Director no later then fifteen (15)
minutes after completion of the race with a protest fee of $50.00.
If the protest is upheld, the lodgment fee shall be refunded in full.
If the protest is dismissed, the lodgment fee shall be forfeited to IOCC.
9.
FEES
Junior events are $12.00 per paddler per event.
Senior events are $15.00 per paddler per event.
(Juniors paddling Senior events pay $15.00)
