Dates to Remember: Mon. – Gym, Wed. – Gym Thurs. – Kingston Fire Dept. visits Fri. – Mass 9:00 AM Mon., Oct. 12 – Columbus Day – No School Thurs., Oct. 15 – Book Fair begins 10/5/15 This week we learned three new Rainbow Words: like, a, my. We read a poem, “I Like Apples,” to add to our Poetry Journals. The children are writing “I like…” sentences during Daily 5.. They also wrote fall sentences and made fall tree crafts and beautiful stained glass-like apples that are hanging in the classroom windows. In Math we did lots of categorizing & sorting of math manipulatives (and children!). We continue to work on writing numbers and making our “number men” to help understanding of these numbers. We thanked God for His gift of water. We read the Bible story of Noah’s Ark and acted it out too! We tied this to science as we created arks out of aluminum foil & tested them in a tub of water to see if they floated – filled with snap cubes! Our Star Student of the Week program begins next week. Our first star will be selected on Friday! Homework this Week: * Due THURSDAY : The Kingston Fire Dept. visits today. Talk with your family about fire safety. Plan an escape route and have a practice fire drill. Complete the “Is It Safe to Touch?” worksheet. • Due FRIDAY : Complete the Dalmatian Dots math worksheet. Don’t forget to write your name on the name line on each paper.. By Friday, we will have learned all our Purple Rainbow Words. Practice them every day. I, am, red, can, a, the, like, see, my, is
