Identify: the parts of this chemical reaction: A + B  AB
A and B are the reactants, and the AB is the Product.
Diagram: the energy changes that can take place in a chemical reaction.
There are two different ways that the energy can change during the reaction. The
first reaction the energy rises as the activation energy gets going, and then
energy is released to make the product energy level lower then the reactants.
The second reaction, called an endothermic reaction, the activation reaction
peaks and the energy is absorbed making the products energy level higher.
Explain: why the number of atoms of reactants must equal the number of atoms
of products formed.
Because they are combining together and so nothing is being lost or gained but
the atoms coming together, thus this it should be equal.
Describe: the importance of enzymes to living organisms.
They are necessary to life because it creates protein with using up as little
energy possible. This is important so we can function without sustaining
ourselves 24/7.
For the following chemical reaction, label the reactants and products, and then
balance the chemical equation. _H2O2__H20 + 02
Draw a diagram of a roller coaster and write a paragraph relating the ride to
activation energy and a chemical reaction.
Reactants- H2O2
Product- H2O + O2
Balanced equation: 2H2O2 2H2O + O2
The energy levels in a roller coaster drop up and down just like the energy levels
in a chemical reaction. Energy is being built up going into the peak in both
situations, and then when going down the hill it releases energy in both situations
as well.
