The sessions continue in the large Meeting Room at Carmel Convent. The next date is:
Tuesday 27th January - Sacrament of Reconciliation
Tuesday 3rd February – Eucharist.
Each session will run from 6.45pm – 8.30pm.
Saturday 7th February - Day of Reflection (St Anne’s Parish Hall)
There will also be a Practice Session Monday 9th February
Tuesday 10th February – Celebration of Sacrament of confirmation here in
St Augustine's.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION DAYS

This Marriage Preparation Day is for those couples who are being married this year/early next
year. The bishops rightly insist that all couples who marry in our churches attend such a day of
preparation, therefore if you are planning on getting married in St Augustine’s or any other

YOUTH MINISTRY TEAM
 The Source: The first gathering of The Source for 2015 is on Wednesday 4 th February
7.00pm – 8.30pm at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Young people of Year 9 and above from
across the diocese are invited to an event of praise and worship, input, prayer followed
by refreshments.
 ‘On Fire’: A diocesan retreat for Confirmation candidates takes place at the Youth
Village Friday 20th – Saturday 21st March 2015. Details from YMT 01207 592244
MARRIAGE AND FAMILY LIFE
Ahead of the forthcoming Ordinary Synod on the family which takes place in Rome this
October. The Bishops of England and Wales have published a document entitled The Call,
The Journey and The Mission. We are invited to share our views and experience of family life
by participating in a questionnaire. This is an important and welcome opportunity for lay people
to make a positive contribution to the Synod.

HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL DAY
On Tuesday 27th January commencing at 1.00pm in Central Hall at the Dolphin Centre, there
will be a ceremony ‘Keeping the Memory Alive’. This event is open to all members of the
public.
ST AUGUSTINE’S BOOK CLUB
Next meeting Wednesday 11th February 2015, 2.00pm Parish Centre. The book chosen for
the month is “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” by Charles Dickens. You are more than welcome
to join us for coffee, and chat.
ASYLUM SEEKERS AND REFUGEES PROJECT - H&N JUSTICE & PEACE GROUP
For 2015 the project would like us to collect TINS OF SARDINES as well as TOILET ROLLS.
This is a very popular food with many of the people who turn up. Although other parishes
supply tinned food there is a need for sardines in particular. Once again your efforts to support
this would be greatly appreciated.
There is a box at the back of church in the porch area for any donations. Thank you.
PARADISE PLAYGROUP - Vacancies
This is based in the Simpson Room (attached to the Parish Centre Hall).
They are open 3 mornings a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 9.15-11.15am for
children from ages 2 to school age. They have vacancies and would love to hear from you –

TWENTY THIRD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE SICK
 On Wednesday 11th February we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes with
Holy Mass at 7.00pm with the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick in St Mary’s
Cathedral, Newcastle upon Tyne. Celebrant : Bishop Seamus Cunningham. Please
