Course Description:
This course is designed to expand on what the students learned in middle school math.
Algebra 1 equips you with the necessary tools to succeed in higher mathematics. While building
on mathematics precepts and problems solving skills developed in prior math classes you are
presented with new concepts that broaden your mathematics experience. Topics include:
foundations for functions, equations, inequalities, and polynomials.
Text: CScope Curriculum with teacher modifications
Please note that textbooks will not be used as part of this year’s curriculum. However, we have
Algebra textbooks available to check out if you would like to utilize them for extra practice.

Daily work/Quizzes

(Quizzes will count as two daily
grades)
1. Homework one day late has a maximum grade of
70%. Homework more than one day late is not
accepted
2. If you are absent it is your responsibility to get
the missed work from the absent box and the
missed notes from a peer. Your missed work is
due 2 days after your return to school.
3. If you are present the day a test is given you are
expected to take the test. If you are absent the
day a test is given you will take the test the day
you return to class.

Supplies:
Every day you are expected to bring:
 Spiral (70 pages or so)
 iPad (when issued)
 Pencil (mechanical or non-mechanical)
Supplies needed that will be kept in classroom (bring by Sept 3):
 1” Binder
 Markers
Other supplies required for home:
 TI-84 Calculator (see note below and separate graphing calculator policy)
 4-AAA batteries for calculator
Calculators (4-AAA batteries required) will be issued the first week of school after students bring
back signed form. There will be a class set of calculators available, so students do not need to
bring calculator to school. Personal calculators may be used if it is a TI-84.
Communication:
I will be utilizing the Remind101 App to send reminders about homework, tests, and projects to
students and interested parents. This program allows the teacher to send text messages or emails to students without having the student’s phone number or e-mail. I will be able to send
texts or e-mails, but students and parents will not be able to reply. To communicate with me,
