Volunteers Needed
The homecoming dance is just a few days away, so start making plans now for
the dance, scheduled 8pm - 11pm on Saturday, September 28 in the school
cafeteria. Tickets will be $5/person.
Student Council needs our help! They need parent volunteers to help
chaperone, sell concessions, handle "coat" check, etc. Don't worry - you
probably won't even SEE your student so there's no worry about embarrassing
them. Sign up for a one-hour shift or stay the whole time - it's up to you!

Freshmen and JV Football Teams Play This Thursday
The McCallum Knights freshmen and JV teams will play the Reagan Raiders this
Thursday, September 26 at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Nelson Field
Varsity Football Plays Reagan Raiders for Homecoming
The McCallum Knights Varsity team will play the Reagan Raiders at 7:30 p.m.
this Friday, September 27 at House Park.
Annual Football Program Available
The 2013 Football Program will be available at the Homecoming Game on
September 27. The program features the football teams, trainers, band,
cheerleaders, Blue Brigade and student and business ads. The cost is $5 per
book.

Reflections Contest - BELIEVE, INSPIRE, DREAM
The Theme for the 2013-14 Reflections contest is BELIEVE INSPIRE AND
DREAM. All McCallum students are eligible to create and submit works of art
in six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical
composition, photography, and visual arts.
If you are interested in entering one of the categories, or would like more

Host Family Needed for Chinese Exchange Student
PERMANENT HOST FAMILY NEEDED FOR CHINESE EXCHANGE STUDENT
- EXPLORE ANOTHER CULTURE
Currently, Xin Li (Kim) is attending McCallum as an exchange student from
China. She is staying with a welcome family and needs to find a permanent host
family that is willing to host her the remainder of the school year. She has her
own medical insurance, spending money and would love to be able to find
another family within McCallum that will host her. The host family provides room
/board and assists with transportation (bus, carpool) and she loves history and
playing the piano. She also is skilled in Chinese calligraphy. She may share a
room with another female host sibling.

Fall Baseball Booster Club Meeting - 10/8
Though Mac’s hardball season is still 4 months away, it’s not too early to plan for
another run at the district championship! The Baseball Booster Club will have a
meeting on Tuesday, October 8, at 6:00 p.m. in the Cafeteria. If you have a son
who plans to try out for baseball in January, please come. You’ll meet other
hardball fans and hear about the booster club’s plans to support the coaches and
the teams this year. There will be opportunities to volunteer to help with various

Project Graduation Parent Meeting for GradKnight 2014 - 9/30
Project Graduation Parent Meeting is on Monday, Sept. 30, in the McCallum
cafeteria at 7:00 PM. It will last 1 hour, so please plan on attending to make this
year’s GradKnight a success!
Free Practice SAT at MAC - 9/28
Peterson's College Prep services will be offering a FREE practice SAT on Sat,
Sept 28 at McCallum from 9:00 am-1:00. It will be modeled after the actually
SAT, so be at McCallum at 8:45 am, bring pencil, calculator and snacks. Sign up
ahead of time by emailing Nancy Nitardy at nnitardy@austinisd.org by Thursday,
Sept 26. This is the only practice SAT we will be offering this fall.
Sophomores and juniors will take the PSAT on Oct 16th. You may take this SAT
practice test in preparation for the PSAT.
Students unable to make this can sign up for the SAT Question of the Day on
Collegeboard.org or down load the app.
