Prom 2014 – Project Princess Boutique Day – 3/23
In 2000, the Texas Lonestars created Project Princess, a non-profit organization
that provides teenage girls in the Austin area a chance to attend their high school
prom without having to stress over spending. Memories are priceless, but prom
night is far from cheap. Did you know that in 2013 the average cost of prom rose
to $1,139? That’s outrageous! The goal of Project Princess is to give every girl
a chance to have her special night–regardless of her financial situation. We
believe every girl deserves to be treated like a princess!
Our Project Princess Director and her faithful committee work year-round to
organize Boutique Day in the spring. At Boutique Day girls are paired with their
very own Lonestar personal shopper who helps them find the perfect dress, pair
of shoes, and accessories for a dazzling debut. We also provide other services
such as a hair and makeup station hosted by Aveda, a raffle featuring gift cards
to restaurants and flower shops, and a photo booth to remember it all.
Interested in joining this special cause? You can help us make Boutique Day
2014 our best yet! We’re always looking for gently used dresses, shoes, and
items such as jewelry, handbags, or hair accessories. Local businesses can
donate gift certificates and items for the raffle. Project Princess also has a
PayPal account for monetary contributions. We are excited to finally have two
permanent donation drop locations in Austin: Unbridaled and Urban Betty Salon!
Donations are accepted year-round. For more information, refer to the tab
below. (See flyer attached)
Questions? Comments? Feel free to contact our Head Princess, Madison Scott,
at projectprincessUT@gmail.com.
