Kalamazoo Central Music Department will present the musical "IN THE HEIGHTS" the 2nd and 3rd
weekends in November. Auditions for "IN THE HEIGHTS" are today and tomorrow, from 6:00 until
9:00 PM, in the Auditorium. Please see Mrs. Johnson, in the choir room, for audition information.

Seniors! There will be a brief meeting after school in Miss Brower's room to decide on spirit days and
a homecoming theme. Be there if you want your voice heard!

Today’s Hispanic Heritage fact: With 329 million native speakers, Spanish ranks as the world’s
number 2 language in terms of how many people speak it as their first language. It is slightly ahead
of English with 328 million, but behind Chinese at 1.2 billion.

FCCLA's first chapter meeting will be tomorrow from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in room 406. All new and
returning members are encouraged to attend!

Are you interested in representing your class as a member of the Homecoming Court? Homecoming
is next week, so if you are interested in running for court, please see your class adviser for a
nomination form. Forms are due on Monday the 21st so don’t delay!

Good Morning GIANTS!!!! Picture day is next Tuesday September 22nd. If you don't have a picture
packet, you may stop by office 351 (on the third floor) to retrieve one. Be ready to smile BIG!!!!!

Those of you interested in meeting with colleges, here are a few dates to keep in mind for the near
future.
Tuesday, September 22nd - Ferris State, 1 PM
Wednesday, September 23rd - WMU, 9 AM and Hillsdale College, 1 PM
Friday, September 25th – Valparaiso, 1 PM
Wednesday, September 30th - Hope College, 1 PM

Mark your calendars! The Homecoming dance will be NEXT Friday (September 25th) at 9pm. Guest
passes will be available in Mr. Gardner’s office and Mr. Patterson’s office beginning today. Guest
passes are due no later than the Wednesday before the dance (September 23 rd).
ATHLETICS

Soccer takes on Battle Creek Central at home tonight, JV at 5, Varsity at 6:45. Come and support our
Maroon Giants, bring your ID for the $3 admission!
9/16-18
Anyone thinking about wrestling this winter, who are not already in a fall sport, the wrestling team
will start after school lifting and open mat workouts starting next Tuesday Sept 22 at 3:00-4:30. This
is open to anyone thinking about wrestling this year and will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays
from 3:00-4:30, starting out in the weight room.

Don’t forget! Voting will take place on Wednesday during 2nd period classes.

competitions you can participate in – see your class adviser to sign up!

And as a reminder: Students staying after school must be in a classroom, in tutoring, or with an
athletic coach by 2:30 or you will be asked to leave the building. Again, if you are not in a
designated area by 2:30 you will be escorted out of the building.
