I hereby acknowledge that to the best of my knowledge and understanding the foregoing is true and correct. ☐ After completing this form, send via e-mail to Vivian Rosado (vrosado@suffolk.edu) and Christine Bustany (cbustany@suffolk.edu) together with ALL supporting documents (listed below) in a single e-mail. Incomplete applications will be rejected. Supporting documents include: 1. Curriculum vitae (résumé) 2. Statement of interest (motivation letter), in English and in any language in which you claim proficiency 3. Transcript (student copy suffices) 4. Legal writing sample 5. Letter of recommendation (law professor or law-related work, e.g. paralegal, domestic internship) Additional application requirements: – A non-refundable application fee payment ($250). Payments are made by check made payable to “Suffolk University Law School.” Note in memo portion of check (i) your name and (ii) “SGI application fee.” Submit checks to Joan Luke, Program Manager, Clinical Programs (First Floor). – Additionally, students are required to sign page 2 of this document and submit it to Joan Luke, Program Manager, Clinical Programs. List each language and your level of proficiency, e.g. “Spanish (fluent spoken and written).” It is assumed that students speak English to professional native-speaker level; if not, please indicate. 2 Before the internship commences, interns should have completed at least one third of the credits needed for the JD degree. Student applicants should have a GPA of 2.67 or better. 3 List three or more jurisdictions (not just cities) in which you would be open to interning. If you are especially flexible, you may write in, for example, “Europe” or “Latin America” or “any French speaking country,” etc. 4 Indicate the date when you would be available to start the internship. Typically, if students have more flexibility, there are more potential placement opportunities. (Note: May/June is generally better for European placements, because, e.g., European law students are still in classes, so there is generally less competition at that time.) 5 Indicate the date when you would need to have finished the internship. (Note: In Europe, mid-to end-August can be slow since it is generally vacation month). 6 Internships are generally for 5-12 weeks. If you must have a longer period (e.g. to obtain funding), please indicate here; also indicate if you intend to do another program (e.g. SULS Lund) within the time-frame indicated above. 7 Most hosts are in the private sector (small- to medium-sized local law firms represent the vast majority, in-house is significantly smaller groups of hosts). Your chances are greatest if you are open to all types of hosts. 8 Students taking the internship for credit generally do so for three credits (in addition to the two credits associated with the required course in International Legal Practice when students return). 1 Suffolk Law School in cooperation with the Center for International Legal Studies (CILS) Summer Global Internship Program - Application Form Applicants are required to sign and date this form, and return this page to Joan Luke, Program Manager, Clinical Programs.
