Spanish Lesson 8: Colores (Colors) This lesson focuses on colors in Spanish. The lesson presents basic colors words and then provides a variety of activities to practice and reinforce the colors in Spanish. Teacher may do all activities over multiple periods or choose to select some of the activities included in the lesson. The lesson starts with two videos that introduce the color. A vocabulary list is provided for the teacher. Introduce the colors using the two videos below. Ask the students to repeat and practice with each video. a. This video asks the question, “What color is___?” and then provides the answer. Complete the color by number worksheet (separate attachment) which also reviews the numbers 1-10. 2. Complete one or more of the coloring/tracing pages (separate attachment). 3. Use the attached PowerPoint presentation to choose the color that best describes the picture. *Note: when you click a smiley face appears by the correct answer. 5. Color Touch Teacher models the activity for the students by saying a color in Spanish and then touching something in the room that is that color. Next, the teacher chooses three students to come forward. When the teacher tells the students to touch something of a certain color (“Toquen el color (rojo).”). (Replace “rojo” with “azul”, “amarillo”, “verde”, and “café”), the three students will each find something in the room that is that color and touch the object. Next, have the whole class participate in finding items as the teacher calls out the command in Spanish. (Each student should find his/her own object. Periodically, the teacher should ask individual students what color he/she is touching. 6. Guess the Color Students are given a 3X5 card with a color in Spanish written on it. Taking turns, each student must say in English (or Spanish if they know the words!) three things of that color in the room. The class guesses which color the student has on his/her card. 7. Color Bingo On a sheet with nine spaces (see attachment), students color each space with a different color. The teacher calls out the colors in the target language, and the students mark that color on their sheets with an X. When a student has marked all squares in a row horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, he/she wins.
