Neural Function and Communication/ Cranial Nerves 6.9,6.7
IN: Describe a nerve plexus and name the four plexuses of the body. During development, skeletal
muscles commonly fuse, forming larger muscles innervated by nerve trunks containing axons
derived from several spinal nerves. These compound nerve trunks originate at networks called nerve
plexuses. Cervical, brachial, lumbar, and sacral.
Lesson Format: Explain cranial nerves and spinal nerves; take notes from PowerPoints; Write
function of each nerve.
Assignment: Complete string spinal column nerves
OUT: Which common reflex do physicians use to test the general condition of the spinal cord,
peripheral nerves, and muscles? (Page 275) Stretch reflex(knee jerk reflex or patellar reflex)
Things needed: Cut outs, string, paper for flip books in notebooks.
