AP CHEMISTRY CHAPTER 14 ACTIVITY: THE 25 WORD ABSTRACT Objective: Summarize the important ideas from a text selection using 25 words. In class (2 periods)/at home on October 18th: 1. Select a portion of the text from the following: Section 14.1: Factors that Affect Reaction Rates Section 14.2: Reaction Rates Section 14.3: Concentration and Rate Section 14.4: Change of Concentration With Time (First Order Reactions) Section 14.4: Change of Concentration With Time (Second Order Reactions) Section 14.4: Change of Concentration With Time (Half-Life) Section 14.5: Temperature and Rate (P. 543-546 up to Arrhenius) Section 14.5: Temperature and Rate (P. 546-548 Arrhenius to end) Section 14.6: Reaction Mechanisms (P. 549-551) Section 14.6: Reaction Mechanisms (P. 552-end) Section 14.7: Catalysis (Catalyst/homogeneous catalysis) Section 14.7: Catalysis (Heterogeneous catalysis) Section 14.7: Catalysis (Enzymes) 2. Read the text and make notes of the main ideas, important skills and important vocabulary. 3. Clarify your ideas and begin to write to concisely express them. 4. Write your final copy of the abstract for your section using 25 words or less. Include the text section listed above on your document; all documents will be merged and saved together. 5. Annotate them as you did for the text selection you read (note any questions you have, vague ideas, highlight important points). 2. Discuss your questions in class to reach an understanding of the concepts in each section.
