Lemonade Diet vs. Juice Diet
Lemonade Diet
What types of foods are eaten?
 Pure lemon juice, grade b maple syrup, and cayenne pepper mixed with water
and should be had 6-12 times a day. This is the lemonade mixture. An herbal
laxative tea is taken in the evening, and an oral salt-water flush is consumed
every morning after waking up. No other food is consumed during the duration of
the cleanse.
Why/How is this diet different than others.
 It’s a cleanser diet. A dieter should only be on the diet for about seven to ten
days.
Are calories counted, if so what is allowed.
 Calories aren’t counted. You drink 6-12 glasses of lemonade a day, and drink A
herbal laxative tea in the evening, and an oral salt water flush right when the
dieter wakes up.
What are the possible side effects of this diet?
 Hunger
 Fatigue- because of the decrease in calorie intake will affect your energy levels.
 Tooth decay- is caused by the lemon juice and the maple syrup.
 Loss of nutrients- Your intake of macro-nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats or
proteins will be drastically reduced while on the Lemonade Diet
 Dehydration- you may have diarrhea, and if you don’t drink enough of the
lemonade, you may become dehydrated.
 Can cause harm to metabolism and organ function.
What are expectations of this diet?
 Detoxification
 Weight loss.
The pro vs cons of the diet.


Pros:
Pro: Fast weight loss
Pro: Removes toxins




Cons:
Con: Takes time to adjust
back to your normal diet
Con: May be difficult to find
ingredients
Con: Many side effects
Con: no variety or choice in
what to drink, have to drink
the same thing everyday
Compare the “energy in vs energy out” for a typical day.
 It doesn’t require energy to digest, but the lemonade provides very little calories,
or energy. Because of the small amount of calories digested, weight is lost,
which means there’s more “energy out” than “energy in”.

Lemonade Diet
*Identify the foods as a carbohydrate, lipid, or protein and the proportions they are
recommending.
 Lemonade: contains carbohydrates (from lemons) and lipids (from the
grade B maple sugar).
*Describe how/where each of these macromolecules are broken down by the body, what
monomers they are broken into and how/where they are absorbed in the digestive
system. What does the body need from these monomers?
Carbohydrates from lemons:
The carbs begin their digestion in the mouth, where salivary amylase begins
breaking down the molecules and adding water to the product of the breakdown. After
being swallowed, the carbs go through the stomach, where no digestion occurs. Once
the carbohydrates leave the stomach and make their way to the small intestine, their
digestion process is complete. In the small intestine, the maltose that was produce
earlier are further broken down to glucose by amylases that are added in the small
intestine.
Lipids from maple syrup:
The digestion of the maple syrup does not occur until it reaches the small
intestine. There, bile from the liver is released to begin digestion. Bile physically breaks
down the fat droplets, which creates a larger surface area for the pancreatic fat-digesting
enzymes lipase to break down the fat droplets to fatty acids and glycerol.
*Display the general structure of each of the identified monomers.
Glucose creates energy for the body. The fatty acids and glycerol from the broken down
lipids either are used to produce energy or to repair cells.
Juice Diet
 Fruits and Vegetavles are carbohydrates.
 The recommended proportions are to have one juice per meal.
 Carbohydrate’s beginning digestion is in the oral cavity, where it is broken down
physically. After that, it is moved through the digestive tract where it reaches the
small intestine. In the small intestine, fructase breaks down fructose and glucose is
the only sugar left behind. The undigested food moves to the large intestine and the
nutrients are moved through the villi in the small intestine. The glucose sugar is a
source of energy for the body. The fructose is another source of energy and helps
make glycogen.
 Both of the sugars are consisted of Carbon, Hydrogen, and Oxygen, and may
have a phosphate group attached. The sugars are shaped like long chains that
connect on a backbone. Fructose and glucose consist of three to seven carbon
atoms because they are simple sugars, or monosaccharides.

Claim: The juice fasting diet is better for your body.
Evidence: The juice fasting diet’s side effects of detox affect your mood only, and are
not permanent results; the lemonade diet’s side effects affect your health and body. For
example: the worst juice diet side effects are joint or muscle pain and insomnia. The
worst lemonade diet side effects are tooth decay, loss of nutrients, and dehydration.
Also, the lemonade diet says that there is possible harm to metabolism and organ
function. The juice diet gives you the choice of which fruits and vegetables you would
like to consume, while the lemonade has one recipe for your everyday meals, a
breakfast recipe consisting of salt water, and a tea recipe for your dinner. Both diets are
around seven to ten days. The fruits and vegetables in the juice diet give you nutrients
once they are broken down. The lemonade diet may give you nutrients from the lemons
but are mostly consisted of sugars.
Reasoning: The juice fasting diet will harm your body much less than the lemonade diet
will. The juice diet also allows you to choose what juices you would like to have, while
the lemonade diet has one recipe for the diet.

Lemonade Diet Article
This detoxification plan, which is advised by thelemonadesite.com to be followed
for seven to ten days, is a non calorie-counting diet in which the dieter’s body is
cleansed. Throughout the diet, many users have experienced rapid weight loss. The
Lemonade Diet, also known as the Master Cleanse or the Beyonce Diet, consists of an
easy-to-follow plan that consists of consuming a salt-water flush, an herbal tea, and
many servings of a lemonade mixture throughout the course of a day.
Unlike the Juice Fasting diet that requires a high-tech food processor for every
meal, the most complex tool you’ll need with the Lemonade diet is a lemon juicer. To
make the lemonade drink, you’ll need pure lemon juice, grade B maple syrup, cayenne
pepper, and purified water. In addition to the lemonade beverage, which may be
consumed up to six to twelve cups a day, a salt-water flush and an herbal tea are also
consumed daily. The salt-water flush, with is to be taken each morning soon after the
dieter awakes, consists of purified water and non-iodized sea salt. An herbal tea is to be
taken after the dieter has finished all their lemonade drinks but before the dieter goes to
sleep.
According to livestrong.com, the great decrease in calorie intake may cause side
effects such as hunger and fatigue. However, the juice fasting diet as well may cause
the same side effects. The lemonade portion of the diet maintains the same flavor
whereas the juice fasting diet gives the dieter an ample variety and range of possible
flavors for each meal. Though this is true, by having this assortment of options for each
meal, the dieter must purchase an array of different fruits and vegetables, which can be
argued to be time consuming and complicated, while the lemonade diet consists of a
strict list of needed ingredients, which is argued to be straightforward and easy to follow.
From the minimal amount of needed tools, to the straightforward alreadyplanned-out procedure and many positive results and outcomes from the diet, the
lemonade diet clearly “toxin’s” its competition.

Juice Diet Article
The Juice Fasting Diet is a diet that was designed to mainly
help detox your body, and to also help you shed a few pounds. Your
body is filled with toxins, and according to Brendan McCarthy, a
health and fitness expert, your body holds in fat to cover the muscles
so that the muscles don’t receive the effects of the toxins. If you detox
your body, the fat doesn’t need to stay and you will lose weight. The
juice diet is about seven days, and consists of high intakes of fruits and vegetables.
Every meal you consume for the seven days is a juice with your choice of fruits and
vegetables. Experts agree that the juice should be freshly made and preferably with a
juicer. You may have water during the diet. Many substances are cut out of the diet,
including cigarettes, coffee, sugar, and alcohol. Brendan McCarthy also says that
because fruit and vegetable juice are so easy to digest and don’t require much energy,
your body is left with extra energy for nursing your body back to health from any other
health problems you may have. This diet should be done with caution and consult from
your doctor.
The Juice Fasting Diet can drain your energy quickly, so vigorous
exercise is not advised. To really increase the detoxification of your body,
yoga is an exercise that will release more toxins from your muscles and
flush wastes out of your lymphatic system. If you want to exercise during
the diet, light jogging, stretching, rebounding, and walking are accepted,
but try to avoid weight lifting, and high-pulsed aerobics.
This diet is easy to follow for a number of reasons. One is that there is no calorie
counting in this diet. Another reason is that the juices are completely made up of your
own choice of fruits and vegetables, so you can make any type of juice your taste buds
would like.
The diet has some cons that should be known before starting this diet.
Detoxification does have some symptoms including headaches and insomnia. Weight
gain could be possible after continuing to consume solid food. It may also be
uncomfortable to be around people who are eating solid food.
The diet not only detoxes your body and helps you lose weight,
but it will also give you glowing skin, sparkling eyes, better
concentration, and more energy. The diet is easy to follow, and can give
you a motivation boost when you lose weight. The diet gives you a very
high intake of your daily fruits and vegetables. The diet also gives you
fast results of detoxification and weight loss, and it is easy to follow.

Lemonade Diet Opinion
W
hen comparing the
Lemonade diet to the
Juice Fasting diet, the
Lemonade diet has a clear advantage
over its competition. Besides being
easy to prepare, only needing a juicer
while the competition’s diet must own an
expensive food processor, the
lemonade diet additionally requires few
and inexpensive supplies. Furthermore,
both diets are made to cleanse the
body, and consist of liquid drinks and no
solid foods to be eaten over the sevento-ten day process. Although you have
more of a choice in
what you can and
cannot eat when on the
juice fasting diet when it
comes to the flavors
and types of fruits and
vegetables used in
each drink, you could potentially create
an unpleasant flavored beverage that
you would either need to drink or throw
away and create a whole other
beverage, the next time hopefully tasting
more pleasing.
When shopping at the store to
acquire all the necessary foods for each
plan, the lemonade diet, also known as
the master cleanse, mainly consists of
lemons, grade B maple syrup, cayenne
pepper, and purified water. Additional
items to buy include herbal laxative tea,
which would be consumed every
evening, and any non-iodized nor
refined salt, such as sea salt, for the
salt-water flush in the morning.
You can obtain all the necessary
materials, such as lemons and cayenne
pepper, at a majority of local stores.
Although the grade B maple syrup may
be more difficult to find at your nearby
grocery store, you can find them at other
grocery stores such as Trader Joes and
Whole Foods.
Both diets may cause side effects
that may harm or distract the dieter.
Although the lemonade diet may cause
fatigue and hunger, the juice fasting diet
as well may cause the same unfortunate
effects. The juice fasting diet gives the
dieter a great variety and choice on
what flavored drink they would like to
consume at each meal. However, as
stated earlier, the blended drink may not
turn out to the dieter’s standards, and
would have to create a whole other
beverage. However, the lemonade diet
has a strict, easy to follow recipe, which
will taste the same every time. Unlike
the juice fasting diet where you may end
up dumping your drink and your money
into the trash, the lemonade diet will be
the same every meal and will result in a
saving in time and money.

Juice Diet Opinion
The juice diet is better than the lemonade diet because on the lemonade diet you
drink the same thing every day and on the juice diet you get to make your own diet. The
lemonade diet only has you drinking a salt water flush, a mixture of lemonade, syrup,
and cayenne pepper, and herbal tea for a week. The juice diet lets you make your own
juice with whatever fruits and vegetables you would like. There are even recipes online
for people who don’t know any combinations of fruits and vegetables. Any fruits and
vegetables are allowed. The juice diet tells you to have half of your meals as green
juices (mostly vegetables) and not too many fruits because they do have sugar. The rest
of the juices are for you to choose and have fun with.
Another reason the juice diet is better than the lemonade diet is that the
lemonade diet gives you very bad side effects. The juice diet has mostly detox side
effects including insomnia, muscle pain, and headaches. The lemonade diet could hurt
your organ function, metabolism, and teeth. You could also get dehydrated and have a
loss of nutrients on the lemonade diet.
The lemonade diet is consisted of a sugary syrup and a citrus fruit, both of which
can ruin your teeth and will draw the water out of your blood cells so hypertonic blood
cells is possible. The juice diet consists of fresh fruits and vegetables, which are good for
your body and give you the necessary nutrients needed. The fruits and vegetables won’t
ruin your teeth and instead of hurting your organs, it will keep them functioning well.
According to a review on WebMD, the lemonade diet doesn’t detox your body
very well, because your liver already takes care of that. It also says that
the weight you will loose on the lemonade diet is mostly muscle and water
loss, not fat. It also says that because you aren’t getting any protein, you
could lose lean muscle. You should also expect to feel hungry. The juice
diet tells you to make a juice when you are hungry, so you never will feel
hungry.
In all, the juice diet is better for you because the food consumption is totally up to
you, the side effects aren’t as risky and demolishing, and it gives you a high amount of
your necessary fruits and vegetables.
