On most class days there will be a "Do Now" activity that you should be working on when the bell rings. Class is 42 minutes long and we will be working from bell to bell. Homework from the night before should be out on your desk. Classroom Environment: The classroom environment will be free of any obscene language, name-calling, and mockery of other students' questions or comments. Additionally, you will be expected to listen quietly and attentively when the teacher or one of your classmates is speaking. The same respect will be afforded to you when it is your turn to speak. Attendance: If you are absent it is your responsibility to make up what you missed. You will be given a 1-2 day grace period to do this. Cutting class is not acceptable. Illegal absences will result not only in disciplinary action, but in a grade of ZERO for all work, tests, or quizzes given on that day. Materials: It is important to come prepared with a pen or pencil and a 3 ring binder. Organization will help towards being a successful student in this class. Grading Policy: Students will be graded on a point scale with each quarter being worth a point total. The number of points earned will be divided by the point total for the quarter to calculate the quarter grade. Each assignment given will receive a grade. Grades will be based on course work, class participation, homework, tests, essays (thematic and DBQ), quizzes, and projects. Academic Integrity: Students must maintain work that is theirs alone and not violate the Academic Integrity Policy found in the Manhasset Student Handbook. Any student found cheating or copying will be given a grade of 0 for that assignment. Homework: Homework will be given on a consistent basis. Regular homework assignments are worth 5pts. NO late homework will be accepted. Extra Credit: Extra Credit opportunities will be available each quarter at the discretion of the teacher. Tests/Quizzes: Tests will be administered on Even Days. Tests will consist of past Regents questions, short answer questions, and/or essay prompts. Quizzes will be given, announced and unannounced.
