Name ________________ Period __ Unit 1- What is human geography? Learning Targets What do I do with this document? For starters, below is a calendar. I will post links to the activities on the day(s) they will be worked on in class. Most days, you’ll fire up your Chromebook and log onto this document and await further instructions. Similarly, if you’re gone, use the links to see what you’ve missed. More importantly, you will be using this to help master the content. See What is a learning target? below for more information. What is a learning target? A target is what we aim for. Thus a learning target is something we aim to achieve. Before we move on to the next lesson, you should be able to use the vocabulary listed under the learning target to do what the learning target asks you to do (I can…). If you can’t, you need to ask (your classmates, your book, yourself, your teacher, etc)! What’s in this unit? This unit establishes what human geography is as a discipline. We take what you probably already know of physical geography and make the transition to thinking like a human geographer. Geographers ask where, why, and how questions (i.e. Where are pockets of wealth in the Twin Cities?; Why do the wealthy live where they live?; How does this affect the Twin Cities as a whole?). We will get practice being geographers before we move to specific aspects of human geography (like our next unit, Population and Migration). December 7 Welcome to Human Geography 8 Cont.
