In your group, number the lists in the order of the word lists you like most to least (#1 is your favorite, #13 is your least favorite). ____2. Groups will be drawn to determine the order in which they pick their word list(s). Once your list has been confirmed with Ms. Rotker, write the number and due date at the top of the page. ____3. Look up the words in the American Heritage High School Dictionary. If there is a number next to your word, you must have more than one definition. Write, then type in Microsoft Word, the definition (word for word) out of the dictionary. Include part of speech (noun, verb, etc.). Your definition list must be typed and it must look like the sample on the next page. ____4. As you are looking up the words, if you think it requires more than one definition to fully explain the word, include all definitions. Make sure you put the number* of definitions used next to each word. *Note-It is not necessary to put a (1) next to words with only one definition. ____5. E-mail the definition paper to Ms. Rotker at amy.rotker@sccpss.com. It is due no later than the Friday before your Powerpoint presentation. ____6. Make a Powerpoint using pictures and sounds to describe each vocabulary word. The first slide should have SAT #___ and the name of the words as well as the names and block for everyone in your group. The second slide is just a picture. Use clip art or photos to make it interesting. The text (with word, part of speech, definition and the same picture) comes in on the next slide. You can copy this from the word document you already created. See my website for sample vocabulary Powerpoints. ____7. Make sure your slides are easy to read. It is important that everyone can see the words, parts of speech and the definitions as well as the pictures. The font size of the words should be at least 22-28. E-mail the Powerpoint to Mrs. Rotker the Friday before your Powerpoint is to be presented. ____8. Be prepared to talk about each slide and to explain the picture/definition without saying the word. You may want to take notes for yourself to help you tell a story about each picture. Typically, presentation days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. You will be presenting your Powerpoint twice in one week. ____9. The week your group presents, you will not be required to take the vocabulary test. Your test grade will be this project. Do your best! ____10. As you work on this project, check in with Mrs.Rotker. You can e-mail me your presentation as you progress, so I can make sure you are on the right track. I do need to see your final copy before it is presented to the class. Please check with me to review your work and to answer any questions.
