First United Methodist Church, Temple
FAQ'S
Which building do I enter for the service I want to attend?
For the 8:30 and 11:00 Traditional services, enter the sanctuary through the front doors
located at the top of the steps or through the courtyard doors. For the 10:50 Wellspring
Contemporary Service, enter through the Family Life & Worship Center in the rear of
the church campus. Greeters will be available to assist you. Click our Worship tab to
learn more about our worship services.
Do you have childcare during the services?
Yes! We have Nursery care for ages birth-3 years old during all services and the Sunday
school hour provided by our amazing staff in the main building. Simply enter through
the double doors in the courtyard of the main building (near the Jesus statue) and take
a right. The main nursery room is on your left & Mrs. Ninfa & Mrs. Terri will be happy to
meet you and your child.
For children ages 3-1st grade, we ask that your child stay with you for the 8:30
Traditional service. During the 10:50 Wellspring & 11am Traditional, children are invited
to stay in worship then come with volunteers to participate in Children's Church
following the Children's Message with the Pastor. You may pick your child up in the
main building, children's wing following service.
If you are coming from Wellspring, enter the main building through the courtyard & go
down the hallway on the right. Greeters will be there to assist.
From the Sanctuary, please go down the stairs to the hallway on your right.
Can my child stay with me during the service?
Yes. We welcome children in worship. We offer coloring booklets with our bulletins each
Sunday if you would like - just ask the usher/greeter.
How long do the services last?
All worship services are approximately one hour in length.
Do I have to give money?
No. We welcome your gifts and promise to use them to make followers of Jesus Christ,
but it is not required for you to place money in the offering plate.

What age do Sunday school classes start?
Nursery care is available for children ages birth-3 years old. Your 3 year old has the
option of staying in nursery care or going to our Sunday school room next door to the
nursery. From there, we divide by grades: PK & Kinder (ages 3 - Kinder), 1st/2nd grade
and 3rd/4th grade are all in the main building. 5th grade, 6th grade (Confirmation),
7th/8th and Senior High classes are all held in the Family Life & Worship Center's Youth
Area. Classes are held from 9:45-10:45, concurrently with Adult Education classes.
Are there classes for me to attend while my children are in Sunday School?
Yes! We offer adult Sunday school classes from 9:45 to 10:45 so you and your children
will be in class at the same time.. Click the Sunday School tab on our website for
a list of Sunday morning adult classes.
My mother uses a motorized scooter. Is this allowed in the church?
Certainly! We have handicap access to all buildings and plenty of room in the sanctuary
for wheelchair access. We have a wheelchair available in the foyer, wide hallways
throughout the buildings, restrooms with handicap accessibility and ushers & greeters
to assist you.
What should my family and I wear to your church?
We’re more concerned with making you feel welcome than with what you look like! We
don’t have a dress code. Some people like to dress up for church services, while others
come and worship in casual attire. Come as you are!
May I partake of Communion in your church?
Yes. The United Methodist Church believes in open Communion; you do not need to be
a member of our church or any church, or be United Methodist, to receive Holy
Communion. We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of every month.
Are people like me welcome in this congregation?
Our congregation welcomes all people of all ages, races, religions, socio-economic
backgrounds, ethnic origins and gender.
