2012 - 2013 Scheduling Information Session January 3, 2012 Chippewa Falls Middle School Unified Arts Department 8th Grade Unified Arts •Art •Business Ed •Family/Cons Ed •Tech Ed •Foreign Language Craft 870 • The craft of mirror etching, metal tooling, wood burning, walking sticks, carving, printmaking, and weaving dream catchers will be explored. • Students will learn about crafts and cultures from around the world and try to recreate their own pieces. • Students will get the opportunity to complete multiple crafts using a variety of materials like yarn, beads, natural objects, and paper-mâché. • This class gives students the opportunity to explore their creative side and get crafty. 88ththGrade Grade Drawing/ Painting 871 Unified Arts •Art •Business Ed •Family/Cons Ed •Tech Ed •Foreign Language • Different types of art materials will be explored • A variety of drawing and painting techniques will be used. • Students will use these techniques to create animal, face, Pop Art candy paintings, self portraits and cartoon drawings. • Sketchbooks will be used for weekly Friday drawings. • Acrylic paint will be used to complete a mini canvas painting and a larger one near the end of the semester. A variety of art styles and artists will also be studied. The focus is on oral communication and global citizenship. • Fulfills part of the college entrance requirement for foreign language study. If you are absent, it is difficult to make up what you missed from the in-class activities. • Spanish I students will study: – Spanish songs, culture, and holidays. – accepting and appreciating diversity in the world. **Exploratory Spanish is not a pre-requisite for Spanish I.
