National Scheme of Innovation in Educational Administration Guidelines for Preparing the Write-up on Innovation in Educational Administration The National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), New Delhi, in collaboration with Centre for Innovations in Public Systems (CIPS), Hyderabad, has launched a National Scheme of Innovation in Educational Administration. The basic objective of the scheme is to recognise innovations in the field of educational administration and management for efficient delivery of educational services and upscaling educational attainments. The main target group of the scheme is the Block and District level educational administrators. The Scheme consists of three important components; recognition of innovation through awards; documentation of innovations; and dissemination of innovations though publication and electronic media. In order to identify innovations and the best innovative practices in educational administration, the short listed applicants are required to submit a detailed write-up in the form of descriptive account of innovations covering various aspects of the process of conceptualising, and implementing them, and making change at their level. In other words, the descriptive account of innovation should include the context of conceiving the idea of innovation and its implementation as well as its outcome. While preparing an elaborate write-up about the innovation, the participants are requested to follow the indicative outline given below. Length of the write-up: Length of the write-up about the innovation should be normally between 2500-3000 words (Approximately 15 typed pages). Language of write-up: The write-up may be submitted in English or Hindi or any official language of the concerned state, i.e, Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Gujarati etc. Indicative Format/outline of the write-up on innovation The detailed write-up should address the various aspects of innovation with adequate explanation and description in order to help in capturing the thrust of innovation. The suggested format for preparing the write-up covering various aspects of innovation should be followed. The suggestive format of innovation is indicated below: I. II. III. What were the factors/ circumstances/ conditions/ situation that made you to think about the present innovation? Whether idea and the process of conceiving the idea of innovation was just an individual initiative or initiative of a group. (In either case provide the details of the process of conceiving the idea ? Objectives of innovation (What was intended to be achieved through the present innovation?) How the idea of innovation was given shape for translating it into action? What was the strategy and the method adopted for implementing innovation? ( This should provide a detailed descriptive account of the strategy and methodology adopted for implementing the idea of innovation) When the innovation was started? ( month and year of starting of innovation) Where was this innovation implemented? (This should include both place of implementation and level of implementation such as district, block, cluster/ institution levels or covering all the levels) What kinds of resources were required for implementing innovation and how were the required resources mobilised? What was the scale of innovation( No. of school/ cluster/ block/ district etc) How long the innovation is in operation? What kinds of support were extended by the state government/ education department/ colleagues/ subordinates and community at large? What was the impact of innovation? Have the intended objective of innovations been achieved? How far the innovation done in your case be implemented in other areas? How far your innovation is sustainable? ( Will it continue even after your transfer from the place? How have you ensured its continuity beyond your presence?)) What kinds of problems were faced in giving shape and implementing innovation?
