Searching for Books or Videos

Go to the library’s website: http://www.rangercollege.edu/library.html

Click the Search Catalog link

Type your keywords in the search box, and click search

Search by title, author, subject, or keyword

The catalog will provide a call number, which you can use to find the item on the shelf.

Understanding call numbers

Our library’s collection is organized according to the Library of Congress Classification

System (LC).

LC call numbers begin with letters and are followed by numbers.

Example: LB 2395 .C65 1991

Items are organized by subject. So, books which cover similar topics will be shelved in the same area of the library.

Electronic Databases

The library’s electronic databases contain articles from newspapers, magazines, and academic journals. Some of them also contain eBooks, videos, and more. These databases are available wherever you have internet access.

To access them go to the library’s website: http://www.rangercollege.edu/library.html

Click the Search Databases link. From there you will se a list of varous databases. To access them you must enter the correct username or password. See below:

The TexShare ID and password is rcc5162 and tx76470.

The password for Gale is texas.

America’s News username is rangers and password is rangers.

Library staff are eager to assist you, so let us know if you need help searching our databases.

Ask A Librarian

Text your question to 66746 (messaging rates may apply). Or click the Green Tab on the Library’s website.

You can text 24/7, and a library staff member will answer you as soon as possible. When the library is closed you’ll receive an automated response telling you the passwords for the library’s databases.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)

If you need a specific book, article, or other item that our library doesn’t own, then we can probably get that item for you through our interlibrary loan service.

To make a request visit us in person, or visit us online at: http://www.rangercollege.edu/library.html

. After receiving your request, we will borrow that item from another library on your behalf. We will contact you once the item arrives.

It varies, but ILL items usually arrive within one week (sometimes longer), and you can usually check them out for 1 month.

Texshare card

Ranger College students, faculty, and staff can acquire

TexShare Cards from our library free of charge.

These cards allow you to borrow items from participating libraries throughout Texas; including Tarleton State

University, Howard Payne University, and more.
