Daily Life
 Routine
 -Read the board for morning messages and check the

schedule for daily events

 - Look at home folder
 - Look at assignment notebook
 - Contact me with any questions, concerns, comments,
anything at all.
 - Have your child read nightly and fill out reading log
minutes.
 - Study math facts, spelling words, and any other
concepts weekly.
 - Check Grade Link every week and print out a report –
sign it and return in Friday Folder
Snack
 Daily snack
 Healthy choices allowed
 Children may bring in a water bottle (do not freeze or
put ice in it). Only water.
 No chips, chocolate, gummies, candy, etc…
 Ideas – celery, apple, banana, carrot sticks, pretzels,
graham crackers, cheese and crackers, granola bars
without nuts, dried fruit, rice cakes……..
 NO NUT ROOM – we have children with peanut and
tree nut allergies.
Homework
 Homework is practice with new concepts or projects.
Most homework will be counted as 3 points.
 Work completed on time– tried your best =
3 points. If it comes in the next day 2 points, third
day is 1 point and if it doesn’t come in by the fourth day
it will be a zero.
- Only one missed assignment note will go home.
Behavior
 Stop light – cars – individual
 Fill the bucket – rings – whole class
 Notes home for excessive talking
Grading System

 Grades may be, but are not limited to, one or more of

IDR – INDIVIDUAL DAILY READING
 This is a time in class that is spent on uninterrupted




reading time. Children will learn how to use specific
reading strategies to help further their comprehension
abilities.
Children will learn how to choose “just right books”.
I will conference with children and assign letter dates
to assess progress.
An IDR book (chapter) should be a chapter book this
book can go to and from school daily.

 Summary
 1-2 minute oral presentation
 “Hook” – acting, art connection, reporting, singing,
props, etc.

Two sides: Keep = keep at home
Return = the paper needs to come back
Please empty keep side so students do not get confused.
Friday Folders
 Most Friday’s
 Sign and return all tests
 Sign and date the insert so I know you saw the papers.
 The rest of the graded assignments should be taken
out and can stay at home.
 Have signed and printed progress report weekly
