2012-2013 Advanced Biology Syllabus

Room 314
1. You will be required to take a variety of quizzes and tests at the end of chapters
and or lab activities.
2. You will be required to do a variety of labs, group projects and dissections.
3. You will be required to keep an accurate journal for all labs and projects that you
complete in class.
4. Wagner grading scale: A (100-92), B (91-85), C (85-77), D (76-70), F (below 69)
5. Extra credit may be earned at the end of the semester and the end of the school
year if your scientific journal is complete.
EXPECTATIONS
I expect these things from you:
1) To treat others using the Golden Rule.
2) To be in class.
4) To bring all materials to class.

6) To listen, participate, contribute, and learn.
7) To do your own work.
8) To take care of materials and equipment.
9) To be a team player! In other words, learn to work with a variety of different

 Understanding plant diversity
 Water quality and our environment
“Fall Fauna”, Trees of South Dakota
 Chapter 8 “Energy in a cell”
 Chapter 12 “DNA and Genes”
2nd Nine weeks:
 Chapter 11 “Patterns in Heredity and Human Genetics”
 Chapter 13 “Genetic Technology”
 Chapter 14 “The History of life”
 Chapter 15 “Evolution”
 Chapter 2 “Principles of Ecology”
3rd Nine weeks:
 Embryology “The development of chick”
 Chapter 30 “Mammals”
 Chapter 31 “Animal behavior”
 Begin cat dissection
 Chapter 32 “Integumentary, Skeletal and Muscular systems”
4th Nine weeks:
 Continue cat dissection and the study of the following chapters
Chapter 33 “Nervous system”
Chapter 34 “Respiration, circulatory and excretory systems”
 Chapter 35 “Digestion and the endocrine system”
 Chapter 36 “Human Reproduction and development”
 Chapter 37 “Immunity from disease”
