What do I do?
1.
2.
3.
4.
Read “The Day of Destiny”
Find 2-3 archetypes (using the chart from question #5 on
page 201)
Read story #2
Find archetypes
• They can be the same archetypes as “The Day of Destiny”
• They can be completely different archetypes
5.
Keep good notes and re-read the stories.
Structuring the paper
Option #1: Chunking the essay
around the two stories
Around the two stories
because they each
contain different
archetypes
• Complete a section for
“Day of Destiny” discussing
the 2-3 archetypes you
found.
• Complete a section on
Story #2 discussing the 2-3
archetypes you found
Option #2: chunking the essay
around the archetypes
Chunk your paper by
archetypes because you
found the same archetypes
in each story.
• Complete a section for
each archetype (2-3)
• Blend the stories into the
paragraphs as you talk
about each archetype as it
appears in the stories
But how do I start?!
Start simple with outlines and “chunk” writing.
1. Define archetypes (using the Jung summary and archetypes list)
2. Summarize "The Day of Destiny" in four sentences (cite the story)
3. Summarize your second story in four sentences (cite the story)
4. Write a section about the archetypes in story #1 (cite when
appropriate)
5. Write a section about the archetypes in story # 2 (cite when
appropriate)
6. Write a paragraph about why archetypes are important. (mostly
your thoughts on the topic of archetypes—might include more info from the
Jung page)
