APUSH Reading Syllabus Spring 2015 March 2 – 6 Textbook – Chapters 31-32 – pp. 720 – 768. The 1920’s – Economic, Cultural, and Political America We have the ACT on the 3rd (Tuesday) and won’t be in class at all. READ!!! Quiz on Friday over both Chapters! Go over the essays written two weeks ago. (LAQ) March 9 – 13 Textbook – Chapter 33 – pp. 770-798, The Great Depression and New Deal Odds are that we will have a test over Chapters 31-33 before we cover WWII. March 16 – 20 Textbook - Chapters 34-35, pp. 800-847 - World War II We will have two quizzes this week. Keep up with your reading. Hand out old tests and quizzes from 1st semester. March 23 – 27 Textbook Chapters 36 – 37, pp. 852 - 904 – The Cold War thru Eisenhower (Including Korean War) Be able to identify the causes of the Cold War as well as the policies that helped extend the Cold War. Examine the hot wars that ensued and determine to what degree those conflicts were successful/unsuccessful. March 30 – April 3 Spring Break!!!! April 6 – 10 Textbook Chapters 38 – 39, pp. 909-965, The Sixties and Seventies (Civil Rights and Vietnam) Assess the differences between the two major political parties in terms of domestic policy and foreign policy. On what issues did the parties disagree / agree? April 13 – 17 Textbook Chapters 40-42, pp. 966 - , The Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama Years. No Required reading from the textbook this week. We will do some reading from primary sources in class instead of from the textbook. April 20 – May 7 Prepare for the Exam Dates to mark on your calendar April 29 – End of Course Assessment for all U.S. History classes including APUSH May 8 – APUSH Exam May 8 – 7:15 A.M. – Breakfast provided in Rm. 1004 before the exam.
