1.
Attendance: You are expected to not only be on time, but to be prepared with completed homework and appropriate supplies. If you know you will be away for a given amount of time, be sure to let me know in advance so I can gather all the necessary homework and assignments you need to be caught up. YOU are expected to find out, and make up, any missed homework and assignments for which you were absent . If you happen to be late, please quietly let yourself in without disturbing others. Remember that being on time is crucial to ensure you won’t be missing any important information.
2.
Homework/Assignments: You will be responsible for completing homework not finished in class, at home. You will be expected to make good use of any in-class time given to complete homework or assignments. Late assignments will be accepted with no penalty if there is a reasonable explanation; otherwise there may be a deduction to your work, or if more than 2 days late it will not be accepted at all.
3.
Exams: Missed exams will result in a score of ZERO, except for excused absences.
Missed exams should be made up during class time, at lunch or during spares the day immediately following the absence. When a student is absent for an exam, they must, on their first day back let me know the reason for their absence and make arrangements with me to write it.
4.
Extra Help: Students should be correcting their work when we review it, and if trouble is experienced with the assignments, they should seek help right away. It is wise to continually review previous concepts, instead of trying to review everything the night before an exam. Extra help is available outside of class time if needed – talk to me to arrange a time!
5.
Behaviour: Math 10C is an academic course that requires you to keep up with the work and participate attentively in class. I anticipate that most of you are in this course because you chose to be. I do not expect many, if any, behaviour problems.
RESPECT
– yourself, others, teacher, school
6.
Food/Phones: Food and drinks should be discrete. Anything with noisy wrappers or food that will make a potential mess is not allowed. Water bottles or juice boxes are also allowed - please do not bring any drink that does not have a lid to class. Please clean up after yourselves - any wrappers or garbage should be placed in the garbage cans (not on shelves or inside desks.) Please do not bring cell phones or IPODS to class. If you carry one with you please keep it out of sight (in your bag or pocket).
