வசவனத்தவலைர், பவடத்தவலைர் என்பதினால் இைருக்கு, வசவனமுதலி என்ற
கபயரும் உண்டு. மரியாவத நிமித்தம் காைணமாக வசவன முதலி-யார் என்றும்
அவைப்பர்.ஒரு கசயவலத் கதாடங்குமுன்னர், வசைர்கள் எப்படி
ைிநாயகக்கடவுவள ைணங்கிைிட்டு ஆைம்பிப்பார்கவளா அது வபான்வற
ஸ்ரீவைஷ்ணைர்கள், இந்த ைிஷ்ைக்வஸநவை ைணங்கிைிட்வட எந்த கசயவலயும்
கதாடங்குைர். இைவைப்பற்றி ஸ்ரீஆளைந்தார் தம்முவடய “ ஸ்வதாத்ை ைத்னம் “ என்ற

கண்டருளிய ப்ைசாதத்தின் மிகுதிவயப் புசிப்பைரும்,
நித்ய, லீலா ைிபூதிகவளக் காப்பைரும், தமக்கு
ைிதிக்கப்பட்ட கபாறுப்புகவள ைிருப்-பத்துடன்
கசய்து முடிக்க ைல்லைரும், எம்கபருமானின்
நண்பருமான வசவநமுதலியார், நாம் நம் இஷ்டப்படி ைிண்ணப்பிக்கும்
அவனத்துக்-காரியங்கவளயும், உதாைணகுணமும், நன்வமயும், கருவணயும்
நிவறந்த பார்வையால் கமச்சி, அதற்கு அனுமதிவய ைைங்கும் அறிஞவன !“
என்பதாகும். ஆக இந்த ைிஷ்ைக்வஸநவை எம்கபருமானின் ப்ைதான மந்திரி
வபான்று கசயல்படுகிறார் என்பது கதளிைாகின்றது.
இைரின் வைவலகவள ைிளக்கைந்த ஸ்ரீவைதாந்த வதசிகர், தம் தயாஸத-கத்தில்
கீ ழ்கண்ட ஸ்வலாகத்தில் ைிளக்குகின்றார்.

पनैपन महन महववस्दर्यद े महजगन्नलाो्वथ महनलरलर्यणाः
धन्र्या महदन्र्यप महईक्षणलप महपव महर्यपाः महस्वलत्दलना महआत्दश्वराः॥ मह६
aiśvaryaṁ mahadeva vā'lpamathavā dṛśyeta puṁsāṁ hi yat
tallakṣmyāḥ samudīkṣaṇāt tava yataḥ sārvatrikaṁ vartate|
tenaitena na vismayemahi jagannātho'pi nārāyaṇaḥ
dhanyaṁ manyata īkṣaṇāt tava yataḥ svātmānaṁ ātmeśvaraḥ|| 6

Note: In the given texts available online as provided in posting two, we find
Itrans and Sanskrit html versions carry Jannaatho instead of Jagannaatho,
which we opine is either a different version of manuscript or atypo. For all
reasons, Jagannaatho makes more sense, hence we kept only this version for
this discourse
We also find few texts erronously read Mahadevavaa as Mahaadevavaa,
request the readers to be careful in interpretting this particular word, as
mahaadeva might indicate Shiva where in mahadevavaa is interpretted as
Mahat eva vaa देप महएव महवल
Sridevi, where in, all wealth and objects of enjoyment available in this world
for people, might be more or less in places, depending on the auspicious
eyesight belssing the place, we are not surprised (by this power of your
eyesight), (for we know) even the lord of this world (Jagannaatha) Sriman
Naaraayanaa, who is lord for himself, too ("Also" or "too" word is indicated by
the term api) feels himself lukcy (fortunate as indicated by Dhanyam) because
of your blessing eyesight
The lord of the world is also said as lord for himself, few indicate that with the
term Yatah, this indicates though being lord himself, feels fortunate because of
the eyesight of Sridevi. This is "Nahininda nyaaya", though the term looks as if
sriman naaraayanaa's virtue been undermined, this is not so, for this is made so
to highlight the virtue of Sridevi (Mahalakshmi). The term Api indicating also
or too, thus aacharya subtly indicates not only Sriman Naaraayanaa, all devotees
as indicated in previous sloka also feels so
The word Manyate दन्र्यप is made in present continuous tense, thus indicating
this situation is still persisting. ं दव
स ीक्षणलप मह(samudeekshnaath) is explained by
Shri Bhattar in Shri Guna RatnaKosa by the word नर्यनोवञ्च मह(nayanodhangcha)

have observed that moment in this way. As a Great Visishtadwaita

released by our Sri Vaishnavism. As a pious natured Acharya
sarvabowmar, HIS HOLINESS had kind look at the contents in the book
with much interest. As a Poorvasramam Tamil scholar, HIS HOLINESS
suggested some grammatical errors in the book. As a savior of parampara HIS
HOLINESS blessed with Manthra akshadai. When I told HIS HOLINESS in my humble
prayers to guide us, in all our endeavors HIS HOLINESS wore a smiling face
immediately.

Rangarajan Swamigal has brought out very nicely the Thirunamam Anaadhi, Nidhanah
Dhaaha. The quote from Thiruchnada Virutham of Thirumisai Piran is very apt, giving the
significance of five elements. It really indicates the knowledge of Rangarajan Swamin in the
study of Alwars especially Thirumisai Piran's Thiruchanda Virutham the pasuram are more
of numerical indicating indepth the meaning of the spiritual values. Swamin has dealt it with
ease and clarity which is commendable.
Swamin could have used his thoughts on the merger of the the two sects
with different school of thought which never existed during the time of Ramanajua.

8. This oft-quoted verse is indeed a call to one and all not to waste the precious present in
useless dreams of future hopes and fears of present actions; but to do one’s best and to
actively live every moment of the present with the belief that future shall take care of itself. In
short, we are advised not to be the least concerned or anxious about our past or future.Let
us recall the statement “that the past is gone and it is history. The future is not there yet and
is a mystery. ‘Now’ is all we are having which is a gift. That is why it is called the ‘present’.
“Let us make best use of this ‘present’. We are to be ever alive and wakeful to carve out of
our present and to day and now, the most beautiful future our mind can conceive of. “To
create paradise could mean nothing more or less than living in the present, that is both now
and forever”. 9 The first two quarters of the Verse (line one) warns the saadhaka against rajo
gun’a, while the last quarter warns against tamo gun’a – controlling him. The third quarter
exhorts him to the cultivation of sattva gun’a. A pragmatic explanation to the first formula of
karma Yoga enunciated and explained above is not to be missed. Any kind of anxiety to the
fruits of our work does create an emotional (or mental) fatigue in us. Also attachment to
mere inactivity or laziness also does create an inexplicable fatigue of life. Both are
detrimental to the development of human personality, rendering us unable to meet the
human situation as they arise with confidence and courage. Thus in (2.47) there is subtle
exhortation at conservation of our energy. How much energy we lose in worrying about the
fruits of our work and if by chance if the anticipated fruits do not accrue what a
disappointment, which entails further loss of energy, because of our attachment to results.
10. Yet another aspect hinted at in this verse is, as pointed out by S.K. Chakraborty in “the
Hindu” article, “arousing the temporarily lost sense of accountability in Arjuna – according to
his svadharma as the Kshatriya to fight a righteous battle though not for personal gains. The
consequences of avoiding such a battle are vividly held out before Arjuna in chapter two –
both for him and for society. By no means are the broader social ramifications of Arjuna’s
crisis of dejection and withdrawal ignored. Indeed, the lower self has to be transcended.
Only then social responsibility, humanism and all that would flower spontaneously”.
11. There is a lot of difference between the fruits of work and the results of the action. The
fruits of action signify personal rewards and the result of action means the achievement of
the goal towards which the action is aimed. What Krishna means to say is “do your actions
selflessly and without selfish motive. This automatically would imply that the aim of action is
noble and praise-worthy as there is no selfish motive. Do your actions without bothering
what that action means to you individually, whether it is going to bring you wealth, reputation,
or name or fame – to all these things you should be totally indifferent. What you should be
concerned about is the goal of your action; you should be concerned about the “result of
your action” and that is really the crux of the Sermon. The right to action and renunciation of
fruits of work emphasized, though great, is not the final word of the Gita; in fact what is the
work to be done is not to be determined by individual choice; and karma yoga has yet to go
a long way as the Sermon progresses in the teachings to come. This Verse is further

elucidated in the Verses to follow – (2.48-50). In his doctrine of karma yoga, Krishna
integrates the two ideals - the way of activity and the way of renunciation, to attain the peace
of actionlessness through a life of intense activity, sublime serenity and supreme
detachment. We will see this as we proceed further on in the Krishna’s presentation of
karma yoga.
4. Formula – 2 of Jnaana Aspect of Karma yoga – Prakriti with its Three Gun’as is the
Real Doer and Not the Aatman, which is actionless and ever blissful:
12. Continuing the discussion Krishna says that the forces we use in all activities through our
body-mind-intellect complex are really part of Nature’s energy – the one universal energy
manifesting in numerous ways by prakriti. The thoughts, tendencies or vaasanas in our
minds get expressed as action in the outer world. These tendencies are influenced by gun’as
of prakriti. So it can be said that the real agent behind all actions is the gun’as of prakriti. The
ignorant, because of his ego, identifying himself with the body-mind-complex, assumes that
these forces of prakriti belong to his ego personality and hence arrogates to himself, the
agency of all actions The doer demands the fruits of actions and consequently experiences
the karma bondage. But the wise man who knows the role of the prakriti and its gun’as
realises that the true self is not the agent of action and so unaffected by karma bondage –
the cause and effect sequence. This brings out Jnaana in karma yoga - Formula 2,
stressing that the non-self – prakriti is the real doer and never the ever blissful self –
the non-doer.
All actions, universally, are being done by the gun’as of primordial Nature (prakriti) – prakriteh
gun’aih kriyamaanaani karmaani sarvas’ah; but the fool whose mind is deluded by egoism
(ahamkaara vimood’haatmaa) thinks –‘I am the doer’ (manyate – aham kartaa iti”). The wise
(tattvavit) who know the truth about the divisions of the gun’as and their actions (gun’a karma
vibhaagayoh), realises that it is the gun’as as the sense – attributes that merely abide in or
attached to gun’as as sense – objects (gun’aah gun’eshu vartante iti mattvaa) and so do not
get karma bound (na sajjate). – (3.27, 28):
In (3.27, 28) Krishna is providing the rationale for the imperative of action emphasized in
(2.47), by introducing knowledge (jnaana) as an important element in karma yoga, namely,
the realization of the spirit soul as distinct and separate from prakriti and its gun’as – the real
agent of all works, the self being the uninvolved witness of all actions. Prakriti, inert as it is, is
incapable of experiencing pleasure or pain and the ‘self’ (consciousness) alone cannot be
the experiencer without the association of prakriti. The tattvavit gives up the assumed
association and realizes that it is only the gun’as, as senses, that are moving among the
gun’as, as sense objects, and so remains unattached. In such an understanding there is no
question of assuming agency and consequent claim on fruits of action by the self.
The above observation does not mean that the Supreme controls living entities as a
puppeteer controls puppets. The control is through a subtle mechanism that works through
material nature (prakriti) and its gun’as – sattva, rajas and tamas. The idea is made clear
later on in (18.61, 62). Where it is stated that this material nature (prakriti) itself is under the
control of the Deity. This naturally leads to the third formula of karma yoga.

During my stay in US I just taught SriVishnu Sahasranamam to my grand kids. They just asked the
reason for recitation of sahasranamam. I tried to explain in this way.
I asked them as 'When anybody does a job for us what do you say'. He replied “ we say only Thank
you OK '.. Then I said this is just thanksgiving to God. While offering our thanks we praise Him
mentioning all his qualities. Each glorious characters caused one name to God. Then he told as “ we
observe many Indians replying to that as “No mention please' . But our custom is acknowledging as
“You are welcome”. For this I came to his point and said as “OK. It is good practice. You are
celebrating even Thanks giving day on fourth Thursday in November in every year. Because you all
feel happy to do continuous help to all. So you are welcoming him. We take pleasure in helping others
and persons benefited also feels happy for the help done. Similarly we welcome all Ram,Krishna,
Gopala by calling in different names of his fame and pray to help us. Thus we can achieve more
pleasures in this world. Though there are crores and crores of Namas, Bhisma selected only
thousand namas and presented us as Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam. With chanting of these namas , we
can easily welcome Sriman narayana to bless us all. Then HE will grace all of us through somebody
in different names to help us.
In the 7th sloka of Sri vishnu Sahasranamam
Agrahyah sasvato krsno lohitaksah pratardanah /
prabhustrikakubdhama pavitram mangalam param//
55th nama is Agaahyah . This means HE who cannot be perceived through our five sense organs
.Sriman narayana is the subject not only in the sense organs but also feeder in mind and thinker in

intellect. Sense organs perceiving, mind feeling and intellect apprehending are not possible in this.
Hence it is imperishable and incomprehensible.
Nammazhwar pours out his complete emotions on the wide elaborate nature of Sriman narayana and
His pervasive nature into everything , Thiruvaimozhi 3.4 contain the many expressions of Sriman
Narayana's countless power in this Universe. It is enough if we just analyze the ten pasurams in this,
to identify “HIM who is beyond the grasp”.as found in this nama. His first eight pasurams in this is
more than fifty questioning type as “Enko''in each phrase. .
Kannan is the One who is unparalleled and praised gloriously in sruthis and smrthis; the One who is
like the Mother Earth in its unmatched Patience; the Big Ocean which is full of cool and bright water;
the Fire; the Air; the Sky the Bright, Shining Sun & Moon, the entirety of all Objects. He can be
addressed as all of these.
In 2nd pasuram says as “ He is all the Mountains. He is the reat Rains. He is bright, shining, He is
String of stars, He is of such an art. He is the embodiment of Gnana.. He is SenThamaraikkannan
with such auspicious attributes.
Like this subsequent pasurams describe Him as He is of emerald form, pavala chevvai, shining
crown, with Maha lakshmi in chest, Sankham and Chakram in two hands. He is the brightest shining
gold. Illustrious pearl, invaluable diamond, ceaseless light, faultless one, head of parama padham .
He is the medicine for removal of karmas and sins. He is the protector, He is Nectar and sugarcane
churned out in Thirupparkadal. He is the sweet cake, fruit, milk, and madhu .
He is the essence and fruit of Vedas ,He is the Divine music, He is Vara Prasadhi, He is the cause of
lives of Devas, and Nitya suris. He is the Maayan wonderful supreme.
He is the endless, ceaseless wealth ,heaven, He is Brahma with four heads, Siva, The creator of the
world and protector. He is with fragrance of Tulsi garlands in His head.
He is laying down on Adhiseshan. He is retaining all the worlds in stomach and spat them after the
Cosmic Cycle end and protected them- Horganse stays in everything and has everything in Him and
directs everything""He is the quintessence of all, the antharyaami in chit and achit but remains
unaffected by them simultaneously; He is the Embodiment of knowledge and not affected by the
karmmas even if He is an antharyami. He is with limitless characters not in a position to identify with
five sense
He is wearing the fragrant Garland flowers surrounded by the humming bees; He stays closer to
devotees . There are lot of such characters with Sriman narayana and so HE is Aghrahya.
The next Nama is Saasvatah (56) is that which remains at all times the same. He who is
eternal,permanent, changeless in all three periods of time. He is not conditioned by any time. HE is
illuminating time and not affected by what it illumines.
In Narayana Suktham “Sahasra seersham Devam Viswaksham Viswa sambhavam ' denotes the
same as “Narayana who has thousands of heads, who sees everywhere, who does good to all the
world, who is the world, who is indestructible, who is the greatest destination,who is much greater
than world, who is forever, who destroys sins and sufferings, and His presence inside makes the
world alive.
Similarly in Gita 14.27 Sasvatsya ca dharmasya it is declared by Sri Krishna as “He is the basis of
Brahman, the positive immortality of timeless dharma and eternal bliss. Dharmic way of life is the very
breath, the road to self realisation . Those who walk along it are dear to the lord. . He dwells
permanently with all that are truthful , whose deeds spring from dharma.

form that destroys all sins. Let us sing the glory of Him who killed the
demon Kesi and the wrestlers. He is the Lord of the devas who when
approached and prayed, will shower His grace on us after judging our
fitness.

Keez vAnam veLLenru, erumai siru veedu- The eastern sky is lighting
up before dawn. The buffaloes are sent for grazing the dew covered grass
in the early morning, as it makes them yield more milk whereas the cows
are allowed to graze later as they cannot digest the wet grass.
pOvAnpOginrArai pOgAmal kAtthunnai- The rest of the girls have
already started for the nonbu and Andal says that she has stopped them
to wait for this girl.
kOdhukalmudaiyapAvai- this girl is pure by which she is capable of
breaking, udaiya, the sins kOdhukalam. she is called pAvai because
she is pretty like an idol.
mAvAi piLandhAn - one who killed the demon Kesi who came in the
form of horse to kill Krishna.
mallarai mAttiya - one who destroyed the wrestlers of the court of
Kamsa.
dhevAdhidhEvanai- He is the Lord of the celestials.The commentators
find reference here to the expression 'ayarvarum amarargaL
adhipathi,' the Lord of the immortals, in the first pAsuram of the
thiruvaimozi of NammAzvAr, who is implied by this pASuram.
For the individual soul it is night till the awareness of the Lord dawns,
only when, the day breaks. The knowledge dawns through the instruction
of the Acharyas like Ramanuja and Desika who are described by the
epithets 'mAvAi piLandhAn,' as they break the influence of the senses
whcih are compared to the horse that runs hither and thither drawn by
the sense objects, and mallarai mAttiya, because they win over the
arguments of the opponents to establish thier views firmly. They are the
dhEvas who have performed the above said feats and the Lord is the
dhEvAdhidhEva.
AvAvenru ArAindhu arulElO -,If we go and sing His glory He will
shower His grace on us after ascertaining our worth.
This pasuram is considered as a reference to NammAzvAr for the
following reasons.
He refers himself as pAvai in thiruvaimozi.The word ezundhirai, get up,
may apply to him as he alone is seated among the AzvArs in idol form. .
He rose as the sun in kaliyuga to dispel the darkness of ignorance and his
light was visible to Madhurakavi AzVar in kAsi which attracted him to the
place where NammAZvAr was and he became the disciple of
NammAZvAr..KeezvAnam veLLenru denotes the light of the AzvAr.

Banana ( vAzhai ).
Banana, is believed by Hindu families as Lakshmi, the goddess of wealthresides on
a banana leaf. Traditionaly bananas have always been associated with prosperity
and happiness. India is second largest producer of bananas in the world.Poovan is
considered highly useful for patients suffering from constipation and pliles. Where as
Peyan helps patients suffering from smallpox and ulcer. Malai increases blood
production. It is easily digestible and very good remedy fbr constipation. It cools
down the body and controls pitta-aggrevation. Rastali is much sought after by
connoisseurs. It is considered the king of bananas and expensive also. The entire
parts of banana are useful. Taking meal on a banaleaf is very higenic. ,
Usage of Banana : * Kidney stones : Include the inner white portion of banana
stem atleast thrice a week in the diet.




Constipation, body weakness, heart weakness, intestinal ulcers : Regular
intake of ripe bananas.
Piles : Boil a mashed ripe banana in 1 teacup milk and take twice or thrice.
TB ; Mash a ripe banana along with ½ cup curd, 1 tsp honey and 1 teacup
coconut water and take twice a day.
Bed sores, burns on the body, smallpox : Apply honey on the length and
breadth of the banana leaf and lie on it for a few hours. Ensure its contact
with the affected parts of the body.

Jaundice, smallpox, typhoid : Mash a ripe banana along with 1 tbsp honey
and eat twice a day for a few days.
 Body weakness : Cook 1 cup shredded flowers and add it to the meal.

This slokam is the essence of the Vedic Principle, “Ucchishta” or “Ut-sista Brahmam”
that reveals the Lord as the final reality or the one that exists as the undecaying self,
when all else is gone. He takes the form of all the Gods of many attributes and
functions. Sri RamA recognizes Sri Narasimha BhagavAn as indweller of Brahma, SivA,
Maruth DevAs, Vaayu, Moon, Sun, Agni and every divine principle. Sri RamaA says that
He salutes that grandest of Grand principles, Sri NarasimhA as Ucchishta Brahmam
and Aadhi Murthy (Moolam).

MEANING :
The entire DevAs merge out and become one in Him alone.
Rg Vedic Passages (RV .II .1.4, 1.6 and 1.7):
You are the One known as Agni , King VaruNA , MitrA , AAryamaan or amsA.--- You are
the Dravinodha (giver of wealth), deva, savithru, ratnadhaa (the store of gems), bhaga
(the effulgent) and nrupathi (the Lord of men) - You are the one, whom seers call by
various names, such as IndrA, MitrA, VaruNA, Agni, DivyA, SuparNA, GaruthmAn,
YamA and Matarisvan.
Yajur vedam salutes the supreme Lord as the one everlasting principle, even if He is
saluted with different names:
“He alone is Agni, the same He is AdityA, the same one is known as Vaayu, and
Chandramaa. He again is the same one known as SukrA, Brahman, Apaah or Prajaapathi”.

This is known as Gokarna Kshetra , It is very old temple. There are two temples
. One is ParavasudevarTemple and little further is Yoga Narasimha temple. It is
Udbhavam Moorthy.
The moorthy of Narasimha is Facing West, because the Gokarna MahA Rishi did penance
facing East. Because of Gokarna MahA Rishi this is known as Gokarna Kshetra.
Hemavathi river is flowing near by. There is a beautiful Hemavathi Dam. There is a rare
Paravasudevar temple. It is Vijaya Nagar period Temple. The main Festival is
rathotsavam and also Narasimha Jayanthi. Almost everyday our Lord has
Thirumanjanam, people from far and near flock to see this moorthy. The statue is also
gigantic it is 8 feet in height.

The power of truth
: When Lakshmana and Indrajith faced each other in battle, none of Lakshmana's
arrows had any effect on Indrajith. Finally, Lakshmana took an arrow from the quiver
and said: “If it is a fact that Rama is an adherent of truth, let this arrow kill Indrajith.”
And that arrow felled Indrajith. The Ramayana shows the power of truth, said M.V.
Anantapadmanabhachariar.
There lived in Srirangam a great Vaishnavite Acharya called Nampillai, whose
discourses on the Ramayana attracted huge crowds. Also living in Srirangam at the
time was Naduvil Thiruveedhi Pillai, who never attended any of these Ramayana
discourses, because he thought that he himself was quite knowledgeable, and there
was nothing new for him to learn from Nampillai.
One day, he heard that the king was giving gifts to scholars. So he went to receive
the gifts. Himself well-read, the king would not give gifts to anyone without checking
their knowledge.
He told Naduvil Thiruveedhi Pillai that he would give him gifts if he answered his
question. Naduvil Thriuveedhi Pillai agreed. The king referred to Lord Rama's
statement that He was a man, the son of Dasaratha. If this were so, how could a
mere man grant Jatayu moksha? Naduvil Thriuveedhi Pillai did not know the answer.
He left the place and accosted a man who had been attending Nampillai's
Ramayana discourses and put the question to him.
He said Nampillai had explained this by saying that it was not Rama who gave
Jatayu moksha, but His words. Rama was the embodiment of Truth, and what He
said had to come true. If anyone else were a staunch adherent of truth like Rama,
his words too would have the same effect, said the man who had regularly attended
Nampillai's lectures.
Naduvil Thiruveedhi Pillai returned to the king and gave him Nampillai's explanation.
Pleased with the reply, the king gave him gifts in abundance. Naduvil Thiruveedhi
Pillai took the gifts to Nampillai and told him that the gifts should rightly belong to
him. All the gifts the king had given were for just a few words of Nampillai.
Thus the Ramayana establishes the significance of truth.
