Team within Commercial and Business Services as a Data Management Assistant. The team is
responsible for the maintenance of data within the central student database, which is critical to the

We need contact workers to co-ordinate and supervise planned contact arrangements between
Children in care, like Billy and Joe, and their families. Can you support children in these circumstances
while remaining positive about their parents, so they can spend safe and good quality time together?
Can you record what you see and hear in contact meetings so that social workers can include this in
assessments, reports for court and plans for children’s futures?
Ideally you will have previous experience of working with children and their families, have the ability to
work flexibly as an integral part of a team, have a good level of IT skills and be able to transport
children.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team providing vital support to a very vulnerable group of
children. This post is advertised due to the retirement of the existing post holder covering the Taunton
and West Somerset areas (and other parts of the county if required due to demand). The contract for
the post will be 20 hours, across 4 days per week (days negotiable). Usual working hours are 10.00 to
3.00 but can vary.
The post is part of Somerset’s Virtual School for Children Looked After which includes advisory staff
and Education Support Workers who work directly with children and young people needing additional
targeted support. ESWs focus on providing individual (and occasionally small group support) building
positive relationships and developing confidence and self-esteem to promote good attendance and
engagement in education provision (school or alternative provision).
We are looking to appoint someone able to develop a good rapport with children and young people
who can be very challenging; because of the severe trauma they have experienced in their lives and for
many the continuing uncertainties about their care. Many of the children have considerable academic
potential but need a range of support to help them succeed.
Extensive and frequent travel across a wide area, and considerable lone working, will be required, with
careful adherence to safeguarding practices.

Working Together – Providing Opportunities
Support Services for Education is a newly formed traded unit within Somerset County Council offering a
wide variety of support services for all education providers.
We are looking for a library assistant to work in the library within Resources for Learning. You will
deliver a high quality service to all learners to the library as well as Support Services for Education
staff. Duties and responsibilities include:
 Being responsible for the day-to-day running of the library including managing and
maintaining resource and borrower information held within the library management system.

Post 3: *CLERK TO THE GOVERNING BODY
Grade 13, £9 - £10.23 per hour (£17,372 - £19,742 pro rata). Salary dependent on experience.
The clerk’s job is to work with the Chair, the Headteacher and other governors, dealing with
administrative matters for the governing body and advising on legal issues of governance. Central to
the role is preparing for, taking notes at and producing minutes for meetings. The post involves some
evening work and the successful candidate should be available at times during the day. Integrity and
the ability to maintain confidentiality, good keyboard skills and the ability to write agendas and produce
accurate, concise minutes are essential. New clerks receive support and training from the Somerset
Governor Services Team and all clerks are encouraged to attend termly briefings in their locality to
update themselves on the latest developments in governance.
The post will initially involve approximately 8-10 hours’ work for each full governing body meeting and,
typically, there will be two meetings each term.

expertise with particular bias towards flooding and land drainage.
You will take a lead role in land drainage matters including other general municipal engineering work as
required. The post requires knowledge and experience of land drainage legislation and related works
together with all relevant health & safety legislation including the CDM Regs. You will be conversant
with designing, specifying and procuring works as required ensuring compliance with the Council’s
procurement rules. You will also be required to provide professional advice to the development control
team as consultee relating to land drainage on planning applications. There will also be a requirement
to carry out general municipal engineering works as required and the post requires experience of
