JOB DESCRIPTION
Information Technology Business Analyst
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field such as information technology, finance, computer science, mathematics,
business administration or economics.
Two to four years of experience in analysis of the business, business processes, and information systems used to
manage information.
Documented examples of workflow process analysis.
Valid Florida Driver License.

Job Goal
Plans and performs analysis of organizational functions, processes, and activities to improve computer-based business
applications for the most effective use of money, materials, equipment, and human capital. Conduct organizational
studies and evaluations, design systems and procedures, conduct work simplifications and measurement studies, and
prepare operations and procedures manuals to assist management in operating more efficiently and effectively.

Knowledge of:

principles and processes for providing customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting
quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.

business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling,
leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.

administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms,
and other office procedures and terminology.



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
Gather and organize information on problems or procedures and analyze data to develop solutions or alternative methods.
Utilizes available computer systems resources and personnel to carry out analysis to support management's quest for performance
improvement.
Analyzes information, forecasts, methods, schedules, systems, processes, and procedures to determine most useful business
solutions for the organization.
Proposes alternative solutions to management as to courses of action that best meet the organization's goals.
Duties are concerned with the standardization and improvement of web-based business systems. Works closely with senior
managers to identify and solve a variety of web-based business system problems.
Analyzes requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing business systems.
Confers with personnel of organizational units involved to analyze current operational procedures and identify problems.
Solicits from management symptoms of problem, formally defines the problem, breaks problem into component parts, and
gathers information about each of these parts from a variety of sources.
Writes description of business needs, business program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer-based
business systems.
Reviews computer system capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations to determine if requested program or program change
is possible within existing system.
Studies existing computer-based business systems to evaluate effectiveness to improve production or workflow solutions.
Plan study of work problems and procedures, such as organizational change, communications, or information flow.
Design, evaluate, recommend, and approve changes of forms and reports.
Prepare manuals and train workers in use of new forms, reports, procedures or equipment, according to organizational policy.
Document findings of study and prepare recommendations for implementation of new systems, procedures, or organizational
changes.
Review forms and reports and confer with management and users about format, distribution, and purpose, and to identify
problems and improvements.
Develop and implement records management program for filing, protection, and retrieval of records, and assure compliance with
program.
Confer with personnel concerned to ensure successful functioning of newly implemented systems or procedures.
Provide outstanding customer service, and use positive interpersonal communication skills.
Make all decisions and perform all tasks in accordance with Brevard Public Schools’ Organizational Values.
Ensure compliance with Board rules and applicable federal laws and regulations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS (ADA Compliance)
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. The worker is not substantially
exposed to adverse environmental conditions such as in typical office or administrative work.
