《Facing Climate Change: Rethinking Our Global Development Model, Act II》
1 December 2015, Paris
On 1st December 2015, within the framework of the UN Climate Summit (COP21) in Paris, the China-Europe
Forum (CEF) will organise a satellite event named “Facing Climate Change: Rethinking Our Global Development
Model, Act II”. This event is the following of the conference on “climate change, rethink our model of global
development and build a citizen ethics, Act I " organized by CEF from December 2 to 5, 2014, brought together
more than 300 participants coming from Chinese and European civilian society, as NGOs, enterprises, research
centres, local authorities and media through two plenary sessions and three roundtables in Paris as well as 12
thematic workshops in Paris, Brussels, Geneva, Lyons, Marseilles, Lille and Rouen. One of the important
outcomes of the 2014 Climate change conference in Paris is the Common Text - the result of a year-long process
of joint elaboration, which will be officially presented in Paris to the UN Climate Summit (COP21) in December,
2015.
Objectives
1. That Chinese and European societies join together in order to contribute to the success of the 2015 UN
Conference on Climate Change (COP21) in Paris;
2. To promote the establishment of a fresh China-Europe dialogue mechanism in order to enter a new era in
the fight against climate change, to enhance mutual exchanges and to find a new governance model;

3. To build the China-Europe green development platform in order to encourage a circular economy based on
renewable energy and green construction, to promote local initiatives and international experience sharing,
to address jointly global environmental challenges;
4. To promote EU-China business co-operation in the field of facing climate change, to reduce energy
consumption and the carbon footprint in production and lifestyle activities with the aim of achieving the
objective of a transition to a sustainable society.
