Aosta Valley is the smallest region in Italy
(120.000 inhabitants) but has a unique
natural and cultural heritage

Aosta is the 2° site in Italy for the concentration
of Roman remains

Fondation Grand Paradis


Set up by a specific regional law in 1998,
Fondation Grand Paradis is a body governed
by public law which aims at promoting and
developing naturalistic and cultural
tourism on the territory made up of the local
councils of Aosta Valley within the Gran
Paradiso National Park jurisdiction.
Fondation Grand Paradis puts itself forward as
the experimental laboratory of a new policy
model for the shared management of services
which are of collective interest and has the aim
of actively contributing to the definition and
strengthening of strategies and policies
regarding the development of tourism both at a
local and regional level.

We believe that the Espace Grand Paradis
has a strong vocation for sustainable
tourism.
Our mission is to develop a new
sensitivity towards nature and to revive
local culture within the territory, to
create the suitable context for the
development of economic players
The Park is not an obstacle, is an
opportunity!

Our activity
Fondation Grand Paradis specifically deals with:

Promoting, developing, co-ordinating and
running the network of locations of
naturalistic interest such as the Visitors’
Centre of the Gran Paradiso National Park
and the Paradisia Alpine Botanical Garden;

Promoting, co-ordinating and running sites
of cultural interest and museums such as
the Castle of Introd, Châtel-Argent and the
“Maison Gérard-Dayné” and the “Maison
Bruil;

Carrying out specific projects which create
suitable conditions for the achievement of
the aims stated in the regional law;

Planning events and organizing different
activities (temporary expositions, didactic
workshops, etc.) throughout the year.

The local policy making process related to the protected
area of Gran Paradiso National Park takes the form
of the Fondation Grand Paradis Board of Directors in
which all relevant public policy makers are
involved.
Fondation Grand Paradis brings together and represents
the different stakeholders in the three valleys.
In fact, its Board of Directors also includes:

The Chairman, who is the representative of the
Autonomous Region of Aosta Valley;

The Chairman of Gran Paradiso National Park;

The Chairman of Grand Paradis Mountain
Community;

The Mayors of the 7 municipalities within the Gran
Paradiso National Park jurisdiction

3) Main projects conducted by FGP

Giroparchi




FGP: 4,3 millions €/total budget: 5,3 millions €
Structural funding (5 years)
The “Giroparchi” (going round the parks)
project is aimed at creating a unified tourist
product, a path of discovery of the park
areas of Mont Avic and of the Gran Paradiso.
The intention is to accompany the visitor
along a path of discovery, not only of the
scenery, but also of the very identity of a
territory that has strong features from a
historical, cultural and natural point of view.
In fact, a series of activities are scheduled,
such as the re-evaluation of the paths, a
project of sustainable mobility, and the
requalification of sites of particular interest
long the route.

Cross-border cooperation program
Alcotra Italy/France (2 years)
The project (“the roots of taste”) is
aimed at making the most of tasterelated topics linked to local production
Concerning the area of responsibility of
the Fondation Grand Paradis, a lot of
promotional and in-depth events are
organized, and in particular the creation
of animations, including ones based on
theatre techniques, and actor guides;
animations are proposed in order to allow
the visitor to acquire knowledge through
a personal and emotional experience.

Fondation Grand Paradis intends to:

share the experience of more than 80 years of socio-economic
development of the most developed side of the Gran Paradiso
National Park;
discuss with the partners the strengths and the weaknesses, the
opportunities and the threats of this territory and compare them
with those of the B2N network;
act as a privileged interlocutor by bringing the reflections back
to the local and the regional level.
