Press Release NSDC’s ‘Udaan’ candidates trained by TATA Motors get 100 per cent placement After 6 months of training, 118 candidates under the program have been placed across dealerships and channel partners of the company Candidates received training under the company’s ‘Tata Motors Certified Works Manager’ programme and placed as Assistant Managers Trainings conducted at NITTR, Bhopal and Amity University, Noida and various Service Training Centres of Tata Motors in Pune, Lucknow, Pantnagar & Jamshedpur Programme has provided the youth with employment opportunities across its dealerships and Tata Authorized Service Stations (TASS) July 17, 2014; Jammu & Kashmir: Tata Motors, India’s first automobile company to join hands with NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) under the Udaan Scheme, has trained a total of 118 candidates (in two batches), through its ‘Tata Motors Certified Works Manager’ programme. The second batch of 62 candidates, who graduated the programme, was recently facilitated at convocation ceremonies held at TATA Motors Service Training Centres (STCs) in Pantnagar (Uttarakhand) and Pune (Maharashtra). These candidates underwent training from 6th January to 5th July, 2014. All the candidates have been offered placement after completion of training and their joining is in progress. Recruiting fresh graduates from engineering colleges of Jammu & Kashmir, this programme has provided the youth with employment opportunities across its dealerships and Tata Authorized Service Stations (TASS). Trained by Tata Motors for a total of 6 months; of which 3 were at NITTR Bhopal / Amity Noida for management training and the remaining 3 at Tata Motors’ STCs (Service Training Centres) for technical training; these graduates have now been placed at Tata Motors dealerships as Assistant Managers. The first batch of 56 candidates underwent training from 23rd August, 2013 to 22nd February, 2014. All the candidates were placed after completion of training during the month of February itself. TATA Motors has joined hands with Udaan to train 1,300 Jammu and Kashmir youth in the next 5 years. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with NSDC to explore training and employment opportunities for 3 year engineering diploma holders and professional degree holders of Jammu & Kashmir, through a collaborative action oriented agenda. Commenting on the overall progress of Udaan, Dilip Chenoy, Managing Director and CEO, National Skill Development Corporation said, “We are humbled and encouraged by the response and support that we have received from Tata Motors. We have some great success cases under Udaan now. We are proud of the candidates who have trained under the scheme and gained success for themselves. I think Udaan has been a very successful endeavour on the part of the company.” Udaan aims to provide skills to 40,000 youth from J&K over a period of 5 years and has already received a commitment of 62,183 from 49 corporates across high growth sectors like retail, IT, ITES, manufacturing, telecom, sports, banking, auto, education and electronics. As of date more than 4607 candidates have joined training with 49 corporates across the country. For the first time more than 40 of India’s largest employers have sent more than 100 of their senior managers to select candidates from J&K. Today the program is not limited to Jammu and Srinagar, but has spread to all 22 districts in the state. The project has seen remarkable progress where over 40,000 young, aspiring and ambitious youth from Jammu & Kashmir have shown their interest to be a part of the program.
